Let's try turning Groupy2 off and see if it is actually causing this issue, or if it's something else. Also, Are you using autohide for the taskbar? Is you taskbar at the top or bottom? If I had your Start11v2 settings, I could try to reproduce your issue. If you are willing, make a Settings backup file using Start11v2 and post a link here or PM me with a link. I'll use your Settings backup to configure Start11v2 on my system and see if I get the same results.<
Still does not work. Even tried on a second Win 11 machine, both running 23H2 (22635.2850)
I'm also running 22635.2850 and have rounded taskbar working. Open Start11 Configuration settings and set the Rounded taskbar settings exactly as shown below and see if that works. <
Open Start11 menu and Right Click on an empty space where you want to pin File Explorer and select New>Pin installed application>File Explorer. ooops! Need to put on my glasses.
Try changing the Groupy2 setting to "Show All" and see what shows on the taskbar. Are you still getting random icons?
Open Groupy2 and check the settings shown above.
This looks like a Groupy2 setting. Are you using Groupy?
This is a known issue, and has been for along time. See this post https://forums.stardock.com/522175/page/1/#3900595 From the above post: "This is an known issue and is logged with the development team (Internal Ref: ODNT-841)" pelaird
Let me know what you want and I’ll create them for you and post a link to download. Here's one I made very quickly to show you.
I don’t think this is available, but you could create a custom icon that is a vertical line, what ever color works for you. Create some empty folders, and name them, somewhere (one for each separator you need), and then change the icon for each folder to the line icon you created. Now, pin the folders where you want separators on your taskbar. You could also use a dot, star, whatever for the separator icon.
If you are using the Windows 10 style, you can turn on "Start menu should open showing all programs list" in the Advanced options. This will accomplish what you are asking for, but also allow you to pin shortcuts to the Start11 menu for available use if you like.
Advanced options are not available for the Windows 7 and Modern styles.
I can't find "Synchronize pinned items from the OS menu with Start11" or an "Advanced" setting. I might be able to find "Start Menu"/"Customize the visual appearance"/"Whatever"...
Open the Config App; click on Start Menu on the left; now click Configure menu; the Advanced option are on the resulting page. You might have to scroll dow
Happy to help. Glad it was an easy fix.
Do you have "Synchronize pinned items from the OS menu with Start11" turned on in the Advanced settings? If so, try turning it off and see if that solves your issue.
You can use Icon tinting on an entire group at the same time. Just right click on a empty area in the group and then Appearance>Icon tinting>select color. Unfortunately, once you set the Icon tint for the group, if you then add a new shortcut to the group, it will not take on the chosen tint color.
That said, you might have noticed that "recent documents" do not appear in my videos. I thought that setting was probably off, but didn't look because it seemed obvious that it was off. So, since it was ON for me all this time, where are my recent documents?
Very strange. If I enable the Windows Pro style, the Show recent documents switch works as expected. And I am unable to reproduce the "first row" behavior
Bill, Not seeing this behavior on my system. There must be another setting enabled that conflicts with the Show recent documents setting.
So, now that the empty group has be deleted, did the "unable to move icons on the first row" issue recur on the Surface Pro 6?
Got it. Good luck. Hopefully someone will figure it out.
Awesome! Happy to help.
I know I can pin it but I’m more of a keyboard guy for a lot of things. Surely it should be still visible, even if not “best match” for a brief time before being promoted again by my usage?
If you are a keyboard first person, you should really try PowerToys Run. PowerToys Run is a quick launcher for power users that contains some additional features without sacrificing perform
No worries. As a workaround for now, you could create a new group and leave the name blank. Drag this group to the top of the menu. Now you should be able to move icons in the top row of your first group (which is actually now your second group).
You can hide icon text for an entire group by right clicking the group and go to Appearance>Icon style>Hide icon text This should save a lot of clicks.
