Perhaps I'm using the wrong terminolgy in my title of this question. By "New Fence" I mean a new rectangular box with a heading bar at the top. I uninstalled START10 and restarted Windows. Uninstall was supposed to restore the entire taskbar, but the search icon is not there. Cortona is there. I don't and won't use Cortona. I need the search icon restored. How to do that? cellistphil.

I did cut-and-paste, copy-and-paste, drag-and-drop. Same behavior on all three (what I describe in my initial posting here.) The behavior is as if Fences isn't installed. Or isn't started. ??? Thanks. cellistphil.

When I copy a shortcut and paste it into an existing fence, for an instant it appears in the fence but then it simply pastes the shortcut onto the desktop, not in the fence. I'm running the version 4 beta. TIA for you help. cellistphil.

I don't see an "About" anywhere. How can I learn what version of Fences I'm running. One reason I'm asking is that one of the new features announced for the Version 4 Beta is new behavior for the Wkey+D. I retract I've now downloaded and activated and I'm happy. I've been billed twice for my one download. I take responsibility for the double-billing but I've spent the last 30 minutes trying to find a way to get a refund of one of those charges. Manage Account. Accounts and Billing. Running Fences 3.1.3.3. I went to the upgrade page, filled in the form including credit card stuff, got back "paid 8.55", the nothing. It didn't take me to where I can do the download. How to do it? TIA. CellistPhil.

I'm not certain that I understand the Wkey+D press-and-hold. The press-and-release, shows the desktop. press-and-release again puts you back to your open windows, obscuring the desktop. @Basj I did some searches on answers.microsoft and found that Themes and Related settings controls the background color of the screen (among other things), regardless of the version of Windows 10. Apparently Fences has nothing to do with the background color. CellistPhil.

@Basj Any reason you're not updating to latest Windows 10 version? Fences V3.1.3.x is best running with latest Windows version. I schedule an update about once a month, or sooner if Windows Update settings nags me. It hasn't been near a month, but I went ahead and did an update this morning a
