I didn't know folders could not be pinned. Thanks.
I don't need to pin an image. Just a shortcut.
Thanks Jan Oscar. And from your illustration it looks like I can insert the image directlty too.
I posted a question that needs an image. I figured out by elimination that one may not post an image, but one can apparently post a link. So I uploaded the image to dropbox. I tried to figure out how to post a link here using the link "insert link" symbols, but I was not successful. Here's the link <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/a355d6f09ds9xhyw4mrv8/unable-to-pin-shortcut-to-taskbar-cropped-and-annotated.jpg?rlkey=in4pv0zm9yeun9oe4ywif5fxd&
I click the shortcut and see this...so I can't insert the image here? have to use link?
OK there you have the image. Thanks Basj for your help.
I have quite a few shortcuts on the Windows Taskbar, but I don't remember how they got there.[e digicons]O:)[/e] The standard Windows Desktop (i.e. without Fences) offers a pin-to-start option, but I don't think it offers a pin-to-taskbar. I have an image of my Windows Taskbar, which I want to post here. But I didn't realize until now that the only way to include it here is with a URL link. I'll go ahead and post the text of my question now and come back here to post the l
I'd like to suggest to your Development Manager that it be included in an upcoming release. Thanks, cellistphil
You stated Also, from my observation. Create shortcut will create a shortcut inside that same folder where the file you right click on. You can than move it to where ever you wish. </span
Basj, Thanks for your reply. I f it is not on your system. You might just need to clear your browser cache and reload the page. I did basica
My eyesight must be failing. I looked at a post asking this same question and there it was.[e digicons][/e] Upload blah-blah-blah.
I don't see anything in the profile information to add an avatar. By "avatar" I mean an image that shows up when I'm logged on.
When I create a shortcut it doesn't show up on the Desktop. For clarity and to be sure I'm using understandable terminology, "create the shortcut" means right-clicking the folder or file in Windows File Explorer and choosing "create a shortcut" from the drop-down list. To confirm that it does or doesn't "show up on the Desktop", I view the desktop by clicking the Windows Start button+D. I also view in File Explorer the "file" at C:\Users\pwric\Desktop.</s
Basj, Thanks for forwarding the request. I'm going to open a new question that illustrates the specific issue I'm having. It may be that I'm just missing something obvious and another user might have a suggestion. Thanks. cellistphil
I have roughly 200 shortcuts on the Desktop. After I add a shortcut, it's difficult to find it on the Desktop. It would be helpful if Fences had a feature that, given the name of a shortcut, would do something to highlight that shortcut. Perhaps there could be a Fence called something like "Highlighted Shortcuts", and Fences would put the given shortcut there. Or maybe the user could just put the shortcut into the "Highlighted Shortcuts" themselves. But that only helps if the us
The reply by Paul Scroggins solved the problem.
I have a couple suggestions for Stardock/Fences. 1) RENAME ENHANCEMENT When you rename a shortcut, you must not change anything in the target path. I had a shortcut with "C:\Documents\KEEPASS 7-20-2022\KeePass SYNC 8-15-2021.kdbx" in the target path.. I didn't need anything but KEEPASS in the shortcut. After some trial-and-error, I realized that I could simply: ^ right-click the shortcut ^click Properties ^change the Name in the General tab to K
Works fine. Thanks.
HOW TO CREATE A FENCE The instructions I was given are "right-click anywhere in desktop choose new folder". In my case that creates a shortcut to a folder, not a new Fence. MY EXPERIENCE A reply to my previous post said to right-click the Desktop and scroll down to Lock Fences. There is no such entry on the desktop. I'm not sure what "Desktop" means in this case so I tried both
You can ignore my posts "unable to post and image #3", "unable to define a new fence #2", "unable to create a new fence". I'm unable to show the images verifying that I've done as suggested here. I've sent a request to Support to cancel Fences and refund my money. cellistphil
