I understand concern about time, ressources, etc. Each company need money to continue activities. But at this state, any other plan you offer than your subscription are just expensive traps. Steam Version have lack of upgrade plan. For non steam "permanent licence" upgrade are a bit expensive considering they can stop work anytime when you release a new major version. So at final everybody that want permanent licences will pay more for really more chaotic

For my issue with Fence 5 I was on Windows 11 and I'm still on Windows 11. I upgraded from 23h2 to 24h2 this summer and Fence 5 started to have some issues. I tested version 6 trial and it was ok.

I bought Fence 5 on steam this year. Less than 1 year after paying that 50 $ on Steam, Fence 6 release. And some month after, my Steam Fence 5 become bugged and unstable, random freeze, specially during drag & drop. It's not really an issue or a bug. Currently software won't allow you to create different setups according the number of display you have. Here I ask for a feature that allow creating fence profile that can switch automaticaly considering the current setup and screens count.

You should add desktop presets in your software that can apply for differents monitors configuration. Here I've a laptop that I use mostly with 3 monitors ... When I unplug them, all fences go to the laptop desktop ... and it's not really nice.

On huge monitors, the fadein fadeout animation on show / hide fences lag a lot... at final, if I see 2 frame during the animation, it's good. It just cause massive lag at final during operations. Please add an option to disable this at all or at least, optimise it. I got issue with many PC over the time. Thank you.

I tried Beta. This Issue always been there since I use fences since a lot of time ago (v2). Currently I'm on Windows 11 build 22621.1928. As I said, to make Fences better you have to add possibility to check screen position or screen slugs, serial or whathever more consistant than the famous screens index. Screens index are not stable and reliable. Thank you.

Windows use monitor index to show display. (1, 2, 3, etc) When you shutdown a monitor plugged with display port, when you unplug and replug monitor, hub with monitors on it, reinstalling GPU drivers, etc... these ID change a litle bit randomly. In windows, monitors keep theirs good place even if index changed. But it's not the case for Stardock fence. On my desktop computer it's not the worst deal ever. But on my laptop (that often plug and unplug to a dock with monitors on it

Offices documents are in reality zip files with document extension. It seem Fences try to litteraly open it "as a folder" when they are open in folder portal. Fence was a good software before the last update. they are some build of v.4 that don't have theses crash but I don't know where we can download it. Anyway it's particularly shocking considering they sold this v.4 we pay for that. v.3 was still working and v.4 won't have a lot of new innovative features (comparing of v2 vs v3 that added portal). I started got this issue too since today... noway to fix it, If I remove all settings in registry and in appdatas, will start again working properly until some hours, it will crash again with windows explorer. It's sad because I paid an extra for 4 version and 3 version still stay more stable than version 4...

Since this update when I'm browsing folder in a folder portal I sometime get a crash of the explorer... if that I happen, Fence will be disabled, If I try to re-enable it, Explorer crash instantly... The only one way to fix it is to uninstall fence will all my setting, reboot, reinstall fence, reboot and manualy remake all my config.... It's a painfull and long process each time... So I plan to restore old version for now. You should find a way to won't require a lot of reboot

As I said the new stardock version won't work at all just crashing non-stop explorer and the legacy version is still working. it's not a problem this the taskbar widget.

Stardock Fences 3.0.9.11 is working on my computer. I use Windows 10 Version 21H1 (19043.1052). I tried reboot. I use 3 monitor and one of them have a differente DPI. I tried rebooting many time. I tried to uninstall reinstal, I tried to remove my settings in appdata. Nothing can make your new beta version working.

This beta completely destroy my fence. Explorer simply crash 3 times and the software is disabled after that. If I try to reenable it, it do the same thing.
