On question 1, I think you may have thought I was asking about shards. I meant the clear-white crystals found at crags. What do they do for me? Finally, is there a way to select/cycle through cities, even if a unit (or any other object) is currently selected?
I'm having fun with Elemental! It's much improved since Beta 4. But three questions: 1. What do crystals do? I'm accumulating them, but I don't know why. 2. What are "enchantment slots"? I'm not sure I understand how to set up a safe trade route with a neighboring city. I send a caravan there, and a road pops up, and now the caravan runs along the road automatically -- right? But I can't assign an escort to the route, it seems. So sooner or later, a bandit or spider comes along and whacks my caravan. Now, I could micromanage this by having a unit follow the caravan every turn, but that is awfully tedious. Is there a way to group the caravan with
My sovereign was half a world away from home, so I figured I'd research Blink for a quick ride back. When I cast the spell, I get a green icon on eligible tiles, as I would expect. But when I right- or left-click, nothing happens. Am I missing something? Does this spell work?
I'm also wondering whether the sovereign's mana can ever regenerate in combat.
Yep, I'm seeing the same thing. Earlier I posted a thread asking for a keyboard way to move diagonally. But now I realize that sometimes I can move diagonally with the keyboard -- and sometimes I can't. As you say, using the arrow keys is ... unpredictable. Sometimes left moves you left; sometimes it moves you up-and-left. I don't understand it.
Thanks for looking into it, Neil. On my system, the "even numbers" on the numpad do work -- 2 4 6 8 -- but not the odd ones. So I can use the numpad like the arrow keys, to move straight up or down, or left or right, but not diagonally -- and half the time I want to move diagonally! I wonder if this issue relates to the varying keyboard layouts people have. Laptops, for example, might share numpad keys with other keys (like delete/insert), if they have a numpa
I'm having fun with Elemental! It hasn't crashed on me once, and the gameplay is richer and more interesting now. The UI is also generally improved, but the improvement I most hoped for isn't quite there yet. The numpad is *partly* functional, but the diagonal keys don't work! The result is that I still have to mouse-rightclick to move most of the time, unless I know I'm moving in one of the four non-diagonal directions. It's probably a small thing to most gamers

Hmm, so to recap, we should: 1. First uninstall using Impulse; 2. then delete any Elemental folder in the My Documents folder; 3. Delete any Elemental folder in Program Files (or wherever we installed it); 4. Delete c:\programdata\Stardock\elemental; 5. Pound our hard disks with sledgehammers. Did I miss anything?

I've been in beta since early beta 3, I think, and I'm happy to report that I'm enjoying beta 4 quite a bit more. At first I didn't see a big improvement in Beta 4, but as I've gotten to know the game better, I've come to appreciate how much progress has been made. Hmm, I ran it in the regular mode on a two-year-old laptop (running Vista 32) for a few weeks, and I had no trouble with it. It wasn't a gaming laptop, and I don't know its exact specs; it might be somewhat more powerful than your machine. But not light-years more powerful.
