Turn-based tactical combat was not a gaming option in your poll, but I'd love to see that. Perhaps a game where you have a single spaceship or squadron, like out of GalCiv, but you control its crew and tactics - something akin to Star Trek Fleet Command or Bridge Commander, or even Mech Commander. Maybe something where you control a Starship Troopers-style battlecruiser so

To be honest, it maybe a little unfair to ask for so much from the tactical combat portion of GalCiv. I guess it could be the non existence of anything out on the market and since GalCiv is probably the most recognizable space franchise in the last couple of years coupled with the fact that it already has a very decent ship builder, it is a no brainer to build on top of that. Yes, I will love to see carrier units implemented as well. I have always wanted to see a strike fig
The thing is, what kind of tactical combat will be included in GC3? I don't want some slapped on simplified system where you move your ships and then click attack. I want something that is complex. I want the ability to roll my capital ship to expose stronger armor/defences/shields to enemy fire. I want my small and fast ships to be able to fly past and blindside bigger opponents. I want the ability to stagger fire my different weapons systems so that they do the most damage. I want
I was wondering if it is feasible to release a tactical combat expansion. This can be an addon that includes only the tactical combat portion of the game. It can be a standalone game as well where people create and design ships to do battle with the AI, a tactical combat simulator. People who have it will have the option to resolve combat manually and tactically and people who don't have it will continue using the automated combat resolution. I hope that by releasing it as
Well, crashes are inevitable. This is beta after all. I set autosave to every few turns so I don't lose too much in case of crashes and it makes it easier to try to reproduce crashes.
When I am at war with the AI and the AI initiates a communication requesting for peace, Beta 4 will crash to desktop if I click to select any of the AI's technologies.
I have the same problem when my planet is captured by the AI. On the planet captured window, it says, "String not found". This is on a new install of Beta 4 after first uninstalling the previous beta.
Clicking on the Detail button next to the Governor button in Colony Management causes Beta 4 to crash to the desktop with the following error signature: AppName: galciv2.exe AppVer: 1.0.0.1 ModName: galciv2.exe ModVer: 1.0.0.1 Offset: 00271672
I am noticing the same problem as well. No matter how weak I am compared to the other players, I am always in the first place in the quarterly reports.
Enabling Hardware Mouse Cursor under Video Options causes the mouse cursor to disappear. I initially thought the game had locked up but I found that the mouse cursor is still around, it is just not being rendered. My system config: AMD FX-57, Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe, 7800GTX SLI with version 81.87 drivers.
I spoke too soon. I get the same error from the California server after the download is complete when it tries to install the multimedia files.
Seems like a remnant of my previous beta install causing a problem. I made a new shortcut and it works. I compared the 2 shortcuts and the only difference is the Start In field. For the old shortcut it was set to %APPATH%\ whereas the new one points to the right directory.
Are you downloading from the California server or the Chicago server on SDC? The internet connection went down at Stardock while they were updating the Chicago server last night I believe, and it may not have been fixed yet. The Califormia server should have the working download though. Switched to t
I am unable to install the Multimedia portion of Beta 4. Clicking on Install in Stardock Central will give the error log at the end of this post. I had the a similar problem updating from the earlier beta until I uninstalled it and installed Beta 4 from scratch. ---------- -- [Application] ---------------------------------------------------- Name: Stardock Central Path: C:\Program Files\Stardock\SDCe
Starting Beta 4 from the Start Menu in Windows causes a Product Activation window to pop up. After keying in the correct email and product serial number and clicking on Activate results in the error log listed at the end of this post. Starting Beta 4 from Stardock Central works fine. ---------- Application start: 2005-11-4 12.31.54 Downloading test internet data... Download: success Test
