thanks for the comment. oye is a little irritating. first you tell me that there is no v5.50.1, then you tell me everbody saw this. not very helpful.thanks

nope, I did a clean install. I have not seen this update until today really. the problems I had before don't seem to be related to this. it's a new problem. but apparently my sdc xml database was outdated or messed up. not sure whey this would happen from one uninstall to another reinstall though. but hey, it's a machine, can't expect it to be perfect <a href="https://www.stardock.com/products/sdc
just to prove that I am not making this up: here is the image
easy for you to say. thank you, this helped and the "there is no" update is gone. rebooted a couple times with no blue screen. I assume several things were messed up on my system. One more question. right after the logon screen I get a completely white screen for a couple seconds before it refreshes the ui. I have tried this with two skins (jitter and largo). I don't have this with the vista native theme. Is that normal? Although the chances that the problems I described will happen for others a
me again. I reinstalled after cleaning everything. this time there were no instances of wb services in the taskmanager. No blue screens either (knock on wood). I can apply skins and I see the vista skin next to others that were installed. the version it installed is 5.49t(b).051. I open sd central and there it offers me to update again with the newest version of 5.50.017. I cancel the update. Below is the system info from within wb. Looks much better now. Apparently sd central thinks I have XP i
ok, reinstalled the latest version, upone reboot (no bsod) everything went fine. when I opened sd central it found a new update. Ok, without much thinking I let it update and it is then 5.50.017. It asks to reboot, fine again, no bluescreen. But then when it opens wb, there is no more Vista theme. Instead it offers an XP theme. When I apply a skin, everything gets screwed up. the taskbar is not skinned and the rest is somewhat. All I can do is go back, apply basic windows skin and go the vista t
I will reinstall wb today sometime and try to reproduce and report back here. will make a note of the registry entry you mentioned. back later. thanks
nothing in mine. I guess because I uninstalled it.
Hi, I had a similar problem before. Windowblinds was running fine on my Vista until recently. I cannot narrow down the problem (or don't want to go through the trouble). It is possible that this is due to the most recent ATI driver I installed (7-1_vista32_dd_ccc_enu_41241), or due to the newer updates for wb I downloaded. My most recent one was wb 5.49t(b).051. Here is what was happening. After updating wb (it was an update about one or two weeks ago), my system would show a bluescreen after re
huge, I had the same problem of 1sec refresh after reboot. here is what I had to do. I uninstalled wb, rebooted, reinstalled, made sure that there was no other skin checked in wb than vista's own, rebooted and then applied skin to my liking. good luck
thanks for the link. very helpful
I am confused. expression web replaces frontpage? what then is Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer 2007 that comes with the office package? I thought that is the frontpage replacement.
ok, the scary part was that upon reboot I saw my first vista blue screen (no error messages, just a nice blue and a scratchy sound from my speakers as well). it showed up right before the windows logo and the system rebooted immediatly. after bypassing safe mode it started up fine. I wanted to know if the blue screen is not just a one-time glitch and I repeated the scenario and did exactly the same I did last time (uninstalled, which we know didn't solve my problem). I reinstalled wb, rebooted a
it's really hard to do that when it loops. I will try again and see if I hit the right buttons at the right time. one of the problems is that when it blacks out the menus disappear that I've just clicked/opened and I have to start from scratch. I assume this will be fixed in the next version. thank you
hmm, I am having problems also. my central is working but after reboot, windowblinds loads and then goes into a apply/disable skin loop with my monitor basically sluggishly blinking every second on and off. I can barely get to central and uninstall and reboot. after reboot everything is fine again. I had it installed right after it was released with no problems. but now whenever I try to install it, it will get into the above loop. for now I will wait for a more stable release. <a hre
'a new version is nearly ready to go' and 'available for existing users' is very confusing. Do I have the beta already as a stardock central copy owner? or is that what I still have to wait for? I see it was updated on 4/11 in there, that's almost a week ago, so I guess I have that already. still confusing. time to go to bed.
yeah, it's not working here either. only after dragging windows it fixes the issues. non-workable at the moment. when can we expect a fix so it will work with wb5? I miss my windowfx
3d on 2d is still 2d. unless this software comes with special glasses. it's a toy, I agree
same here. shows up ast beta 2. do I have 2 or three now? confused
ok, just found out that I need to install 4.6 first, then update to 5 and it works fine now - odd.
I installed and uninstalled (each time rebooting) wb5 on my system via sdcentral a couple times with no success. I am running WinXP MCE with SP2. the only way for me to access window blinds is to run wb via sdcentral. anything I can do to get this fixed? thanks
had problems initially as many others here. It reported everything is fine but it would only show windows classic. I uninstalled, deleted files, rebooted, deleted some more files that I was not able to delete first. reinstalled - no go. I repeated this about 3 times. eventually I did the following, which I know does not make any sense. I uninstalled windowblinds 5, did not reboot, reinstalled it, then rebooted and it now works. don't ask me
Brad, if your analysis is true then there is nothing to be afraid of. It will get some hipe for a couple months and then disappear into the average OS enhancement world after people realize that other free and/or better programs can do the same. frac (btw. I am from Ohio and I am deeply disturbed on what happened especially as a permanent resident who cannot vote. Sorry, I know you don't want ppl to rant about politics, but your Ohio line triggered it).
too bad the systray tab still causes lots of crashes on my system. works fine without it, but then the reason I have the tab is to eliminate the taskbar including systray. hopefully this will be fixed soon
