I got this issue too, after updating to the new version of fences 3. All my desktop icons are gone, after uninstalling the software they are still gone, but turns out they are just hiding. And I got them back by : Mouse Right Click on desktop - View - Show desktop icons. Installing software again and seem to work fine again.
