I am still to understand why anyone would opt to use dumbed down aps over real desktop aps.

I understand what the OP is saying, but for me, it is not necessary. But the OP would obviously like it.
[quote who="DeanKellham" reply="4" id="3358059"] Microsoft are happily living in ignorance. They managed to convince themselves that people only ever use maximised windows so they only need full-screen apps. They also convinced themselves that because Windows 8 currently offers more multi-tasking potential than iOS that's all they need to worry about. It's as if they forgot they're developing a desktop OS. Even with Blue you'll only get 1-4 modern apps at once (in a vert

I like it the way it is. It works just as I would expect. Programs that I only use seldom don't move straight to the recently used list for me.
I don't like being prompted either, mate. I guess it is OK if it is a trial, but I am fully registered, yet I am prompted to install Decor8.
OK. Thanks for your reply, Neil.

So why do we have to restart our computers every time after installing new versions? Can you not just have the installer stop and restart the Service, or is it something more than that?
Hi Duelshotgunner. I just tested this myself, and I cannot reproduce it. I know it doesn't directly help your situation, but it might help the developers to sort out your particular situation. Maybe it is a Publisher 2013 shortcut problem.
I have Ctrl + Windows key set, and it still works for me with v1.15.

The whole point of people's [here] displeasure with 8 is exactly its GUI. Even its avid LOVERS grudgingly yearn for WB8 to improve things...and yet it's this very GUI "advancement" that prolongs its [WB] release. I can definitively say that I am not on that site. And don't care wha
Maybe 8.1 will right at least some wrongs.
That has nothing to do with Start8. It is the normal Windows 8 behavior. There are probably a few things you can do to avoid using a password on your computer. But the easiest way (in my opinion) is to go to Start > Run and type: control userpasswords2 Or Start > control userpasswords2 Under the "Users" Tab, deselect "Users must enter a username and password to use this computer". It will prompt for a password
Does it go to the Desktop after you sign in with your password?
Thanks for the answer, Neil.

The best advice would be to get rid of Norton. Just use Windows Defender.
