I am running FE in wine under linux. I am not using the steam version but the stardock standalone version, so I am not sure if this helps. To get the game running under recent wine versions, I had to rename the file SDNXLOverlay.dll in the game folder. Not sure if you have that file too. I remember to get the game running without that in wine 1.4 if I remember correctly, so using an older wine via playonlinux could be worth a try, too. <
That's interesting does it resolve the issue for everyone if they disable Adaptive multisampling?
No, for me under Linux (with an nvidia graphic card), neither disabling AA in the graphic card menu nor disabling AA in the game options changes the issue (only referring to FE up to 1.3, haven't bought LH yet due to this issue). But I'm just a minor linux user ;)
From the FAQ: How much does Legendary Heroes cost? If you own Fallen Enchantress then Legendary Heroes will cost $19.99. If you don't own Fallen Enchantress it will cost $39.99 (since it contains Fallen Enchantress). I understand "since it contains FE", that you get FE included.
how about mac os x? there are tools for migrting there?
you could try with wine or crossover to see if you have any luck on a mac. Frogboy himself played FE on a Macbook but with Parallels 8: https://forums.stardock.com/432697
How would that work? How does Steam being available on Linux make it easier to make Linux games? Did they port DirectX 9?
It wouldn't be easier, but now that there is a commercial platform for linux gaming, it could be worth the effort :) Another way would be to try to get the game to run better under wine, where this annoying anti aliasing bug isn't solved yet.
I would be very interested, too. I bought the game and am able to run it under wine, but without tactical battle and with cloth map only. That cuts a lot of the fun. Would gladly buy the expansion, if there were a linux version for that.
Horses in the shop for heros is WAI, but you shouldnt be able to train troops with horses.
I trained a Pioneer in a fortress with nearly all buildings and 4 Essence and heart of fire enchantment. The pioneer was attacked by 3 shrills and I hit autoresolve and thought I'll lose the pioneer, but he beat those 3 shrills due to an attack rating of 4 fire and max. health of 36HP. Is this WAI?
I had no crashes. The game runs still the same as beta4 (white screen without cloth map and in tactical), which I thought a pity (because no changes to the anti aliasing bugs), but seeing your crashes, I should be glad it still runs at all ;) Have you looked at your debug.err if there are hints, whats wrong? There were other crash reports after updates, where the problem was solved by clearing some of the folders (savegames screenshots etc.) (Derek said: The fix is to de
Thanks for the reply. I had been hoping that beta 5 will solve our problem magically by solving the anti-alising bugs that have been reported, but I can't see anything about it in the changelog. After the new patch I will try some more things to solve the problem.
Is it intentional, that you are able to move units on strategic map at the very beginning of a new turn BEFORE monsters move? I had a pioneer trying to pass a roaming monster. I moved the pioneer to a tile next to the monster and clicked "next turn". On the new turn I moved him as fast as I could and he moved to the next tile while simultanously the monster moved to the tile where the pioneer had been. So I was able to bypass a monster which I couldn't, given a 1
Another idea would be to select "just a few turns more" after you fulfilled a victory condition. Last game I had my last opponent surrender and I would have liked very much to complete the master quest just for fun, but the game ended due to no opponent left. Or is something like that already ingame?
Just a question: Is this issue being addressed in beta 5? I'm still having the issue with the white map and haven't been able to solve it (tried all possible anti aliasing options).
The things I see under Wine on Ubuntu are very similar to what is posted here https://forums.stardock.com/430477 People with ATI graphic card had issues due to adaptive multisampling. I am using a nvidia card, but the results are the same: On the map (without cloth map) or on tactical battles all of the screen except UI is white. Cloth map works though. Its just a graphic issue, I can even mouse-over units in tac
I agree. I played a created faction with master scouts and have been able to loot all those shinies in the wildlands without beeing attacked by those guardians. EDIT: I was referring to a game with [0.951]
Thats no issue. I just made a start skript which navigates to the folder and starts the game. But it could be helpful for windows users with that error.
Update on my current state of FE under Wine: I'm using a clean wine under Ubuntu 12.04. Tried several DX-winetricks but didn't change anything. If you navigate to the FE Folder before starting it, it starts fine. Game is playable but only with "cloth map", because without cloth map everything is very bright white so I can't see anything. Battle is only usable with autosolve, because like world map, everything is bright white. You can see where the u
