How do I convert captured enemy Level 1 Shrines to Level 2 shrines? My own shrines upgraded automatically when I researched the appropriate technology, but I can find no way to either upgrade captured enemy shrines or destroy them and rebuild them as friendly Level 2's.

In Master of Magic having multiple participants act as a single unit was very important to considering that unit's overall potential strength. If there are 8 guys in a squad of pikemen all your upgrades to them count 8 times. If you used the same upgrade on a solitary figure, like a hero, the upgrade counted only once. It gave some balance between elite armies and regular armies with extra help. A rank of 4 rangers, a high-end range unit, could be gunned down by a squad of

Mine seems pretty stable. The campaign had a lot of glitches, as if it were designed for a previous version of the game and way too many changes to the game design made the campaign unstable, but the sandbox mode has only crashed on me once, and that was after running 3 hours straight. I've played many times since then without a crash or even odd behavior. (Excepting a couple of frustrating design flaws of the UI, but I've already delivered my opinion of that in another thread

Well ... I just got it and it isn't as good as Master of Magic but at least stacks of units that end their turns on the same tile don't get their orders cancelled like with AoW:SM. (I think one unit could actually get "hijacked" by another's move orders if they happened to end the turn in just the wrong way, but I haven't touched AoW:SM in years.) WoM has serious problems, don't get me wrong, just nothing quite that catastrophic. The main annoyance is that all unit

Holding down middle mouse button rotates map, which makes the occasional city zoom not reverting back to the original map rotation not a problem. Also this particular problem doesn't seem to happen during a normal game but during the first campaign mission. The disappearing unit picture (which gives the unit's current orders) also only seems to happen during the campaign. Lastly is there any way to find idle caravans? I right-click on some

Umm, right, and to make an actual on-topic post for once in my career of comment-board infamy, "Independence War" and its sequel use Newtonian physics for the action and a little FTL hand-waving to get you from place to place quickly. All the important action happens in the Newtonian realm and without massive (unplayable) relative velocities. Everybody translates out of "LDS Drive" with the same relative velocity, so you're starting at zero relative every time you get within range

David Weber's "Honorverse" ships follow the known rules of physics, plus a little bit of hand-waving for the FTL without which it's almost impossible to write space-based science fiction. I would say that his portrayal of space combat is as "hard sci-fi" as possible in any setting which includes FTL. (The rest of his universe ... well ... two words: psychic cats. Meh.) Weber's mathematically lavish world of acceleration-derived velocities and velocity-derived intercepts ru

I'm running DL v1.53. There are a lot of things I'm not allowed to do when my credit balance falls below zero, and I'm pretty sure I'm not allowed to buy ships when it falls below -500, either. In fact I'm in the worst position I've ever been in in my current game because I'm stuck in a corner with 3 species, 2 of which have superior diplomatic skill. I'm falling further and further behind because I can't buy techs without the positive credit balance to cover the check, an

I just posted my first Metaverse game, won by tech victory. It seems like if you have the economy to put together a conquest or influence victory you have the economy to crash through to the tech victory with less fuss, but I haven't played many games so maybe with experience the other win types become easier. Anyway assuming my goal is to win consistently on suicidal but not necessarily to maximize score (I refuse!) what do you think of the tech

Hey, I actually figured this one out! Using a debugger to skip past the bad memory access I got a message from the Altarians: "Your war against the has no merit." We declare war on you, yada yada. What happened is I made peace with the Korx -- who I declared war on as a favor to a minor race they were about to annihilate -- anyway, I made peace with the Korx on this very turn. The Altarians' null causus belli is cra

I'm getting a CTD during turn generation. I'm playing vanilla GC2:Dreadlords. The turn happens to be on a week when the "ip reset" happens, which I think is also when the UP meets. It might be related to the bug. The bug happens every time I try to generate the turn, and I have it saved. What's the next move?

There's some more fine print you'll want to know about, too: Civilization Capitols. If you conquer an enemy civ's homeworld they just move their capitol somewhere else. If their last planet is a barren Class 3 rock, congratulations, you just wasted a very rare and valuable building by maneuvering it there. What you want to do is leave the choicest, best real estate for last, so when you conquer the Civ Capitol it'll be someplace you can actually make use o

I think it was during the "Skip" phase when it happened, that's when you've hit "Next Turn" but some of your ships need you to make some decisions before the turn actually goes forward. My credit balance went massively negative, a number so huge in magnitude that the display couldn't display the entire thing. Any reports of this happening before?

I just had my cash reserves turn into a massively negative number, so massive it can't even print all the way in the cash reserve field. Has anyone else encountered this, and does anyone else know what causes it? Luckily I have an autosave from 2 turns before it happens. If it doesn't happen again, game on, and if it does happen again I have a repeatable bug to report to whomever handles that sort of thing.

Dreadlord fleets ... yikes. At least that limits their coverage -- two speed-11 Frigates in a fleet are better than two independently-patrolling speed-11 Frigates for the long period of time where you couldn't take out a single Frigate anyway. And I'd rather have 20 speed-5 Frigates in 10 fleets than 5 of those speed-11 monsters operating alone. Speed is an awful, awful thing for a Dreadlord to have. :P Species playing politics with Dreadlords is also pretty lame.&

Yeah, I noticed that, too. I wanted to demand the Arceans stop building their military starbase in my territory ... or else! I could demand they give me the starbase, but they took that as a request for tribute. I had no way to communicate my displeasure at their provocation. I also couldn't convey to them my perception of the intensity of their provocation. Lots of strategy games have ways to make threats, and most of them allow conditional threats, "Do X or
