You may be able to do something like that with Fences. You can take a 'snapshot' of the layout for each resolution. You would have to manually reload the snapshot every time you switched, but it would be easier than redoing the whole layout each time. And it's free! https://www.stardock.com/products/fences/

Also, we've seen several times in the past (happened to someone here in the office, too) where bad system memory can cause MD5 errors as well. You could try scanning with something like memtest86+ (free, works great) and see if that might be the problem.
It all depends on your style of play. Like killing people? Try Demon Assassin, Unclean Beast, or Regulus. Like killing buildings? Then The Rook or Queen of Thorns would do nicely. Like a support role? Sedna, Oak, and maybe Oculus. Erebus and Torchbearer can do a variety of roles.
