Just lost my taskbar icons

After the latest Windows 11 Update (2026-06 Preview Update (KB5095093) (26200.8737)) I found that my Taskbar icons reset to some basic icons and I had to start again customising the icons. My Start 11 Version is 2.72.

I have also an unrelated issue - sfc /scannow says "Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service." but runs in Safe Mode and says no problems. 

I am not sure if another program running in the background caused the problem but I thought I would let you know. It's simple to start customising the taskbar again and it could do with a cleanup anyway. ;-)

Sorry to hear you are having issues. I believe your issue has something to do with latest Windows updates. Please try the latest Start11 v2 just released for testing: Refer to this post by Adam reply#14: https://forums.stardock.com/541828/start-11-tray-icons-non-responsive#3994836. Download the new release and reboot your system. Retest and report back.

I need to clarify something here.

Start11 will not be causing either of those issues.  The S11 issue was specifically related to not being able to click on parts of the taskbar and it required a very particular combination of monitor positions.  It would not have impacted SFC or changed what was in the tray.

Well, I you are correct it did not recreate my taskbar icons but I don't mind. It gives me an opportunity to clean up my taskbar and select the applications and folders I access quickly.

As for MS Windows 11 Updates introducing more problems - we will just have to live with it or turn off updates and keep an eye out for any reports of "trouble".

I love StarDock and their enhancements and with PowerToys you get more options. Sometime you may install something and not be sure what it may have interacted with. Some program will offer to "cleanup" or "improve" something and then cause trouble. CCleaner is one.
