I've moaned about this before. I think network connection balloons are the culprit. My job involves network devices connected to my machine which frequently restart and trigger the 'connectivity' balloon. I ended up writing a program to hide the windows taskbar when I'm using ob. If you like I'll send it to you when I get back to work. rob

Wasn't there an option related to this in older versions of ob (1.65) ? It's not there now ... rob
Oh that's what I wanted - thanks rob
you could try this (or try google) HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions\NoBrowserOptions and set it to "0"
You could try grovelling around in the bars .obbar file and copy/paste from one to the other. I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for the theme editor to get improved though rob
and it seems to fix the things I've been moaning about the most - thanks. Is there a way to control the speed at which bars slide out ? Rob (promise I'll stop whingeing now ... )
You can use the 'filesystem menu' item when you right click on an object bar folder Rob
You're right it does. I just checked - I've been using OD for 4 years, not 6 - think I may have had WB for a while before that. My gripe about OB2 is it's been in beta for over a year - ok for an OS maybe, but not for a utility like OB. I think it would be good for them to have a bug database to complement the beta program - we find bugs and report them, and in return we see progress (or not as the case maybe) on the fixes. rob
Oh dear. I suppose do I have an attitude, but it is born out of frustration with Stardock saying one thing and doing another. I didn't expect an answer from Brad, but then I didn't mail him. I do expect an answer from support, and at this point I really am eating humble pie because they did reply, but only to say that 'the forums are not the official place for support', and that if I have a problem I should mail them about it. So to recap, my complaint is that it is taking a long
I did email support - if you follow the link I copied above you'll see. You'll also see that someone said they'd forward my message to the CEO. Of course, I received no reply from support. rob
From the od 2007 press release ... Well, today the wait is over, today we are officially launching Object Desktop 2007. Part of our goal with this launch is to help bring the power of tools such as WindowBlinds and IconPackager to a new group of users... Are these tools ?! What about OB ?
It will come as no surprise to anyone that I had no response from stardock regarding progress on the release of object bar after a month. https://forums.stardock.com/?forumid=190&aid=122568#952984 Does anyone here know who to send mail to regarding this ? I feel a bit cheated... rob
I feel you have missed my point somewhat. 'The issue' is/are Stardock finishing Object Bar, and the lack of communication as to why they are taking so long. Take a look back through this forum (which I see Stardock have found the time to revamp - is that what you mean by improving quality ?) if you want to see what I mean. Might you be able to pass my note on to whoever is responsible for development of Object Bat at Stardock ? Rob
What is the point of the Object Bar forum - it's run by Stardock, but they don't read any posts (at least posts on this particular one)? Time is ticking by and there is no sign of any one 'picking up the ball' which I remember was admitted to having been dropped a long while back. I wouldn't care if I'd stuck to my smug guns waiting for OB to get finished and not renewed my sub. I wouldn't care if there was some feedback from Stardock (although I suppose regularly posted empty promises do wear a
... hello Stardock ... is anyone there ? I'm feeling somewhat disgruntled, having been suckered into shelling out my resub money yet again. I submit bug reports - that's what betas are for, no ? There is no list of what you are fixing, in fact there is no indication that you are doing anything with OB at all ... surely you're not all still working on games ? rob
This won't help, but it doesn't crash for me ;( Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.3) Gecko/20060426 Firefox/1.5.0.3 rob
Does that for me too. Ctrl-Esc still brings it up though, but in the place where it would be if your task bar wasn't hidden rob
In addition to all that... when menus/bars stay open after selecting an item, it's not possible to shut them by right-clicking and selecting close bar. The cursor sometimes sticks as a t-bar instead of an arrow... rob
Ok so you have my money for another year ... where do I send bugs to ? rob
Well I finally managed to work out how to get a sub-bar popup from a main bar item, via the cleverly hidden advanced editor. Now why is it that the advanced (legacy) editor has a File->Legacy Theme Editor option as well as the new Them Editor, but the (new) Theme Editor doesn't. Shouldn't the advanced option be on the new one ( and not on itself! ) Rob
Latest Beta, winxp sp2, also latest .NET Framework installed 1. When I run OB it takes ages (about 2-3 minutes) to actually appear. 2. Links to files which have more than one Open With option don't work. ie right clicking on foo.cpp looks like this foo.cpp->File System Menu...->Open With->Open With Selecting on the last Open With appears to use the first option in the list of options that should be provided,
I have ObjectBar set to hide the taskbar. However every now and then it reappears, possibly when an email arrives (I have Outlook email notification turned on). Any chance Object Bar could intercept this (?!) and keep the tqaskbar hidden ? Ta Rob
