[quote who="BoogieBac" reply="12" id="2217206"] That said, I do beleive there's a better middle ground, but I fear setting up a system to even Macro-manage a mostly automated 110 resource system is going to be hellacious. And as much as it sounds proper, I really dont want to implement something one way and 'dumb it down' later....let's try to get it as correct as possible the first time through. I'd say camp 1. If only because it's easier to simplify later on than to make things more intricate. It was also a lot of fun in Colonisation. If you can keep it at a managable level. It kind of depends on how many different types of base resources you have though. 4 or 5 type and things stay quite managable, with intricate supply networks only needed for the most advanced/powerful/rare units in your army. 20+ base resources (and an exponential number of refinement steps/comb

[quote who="b0rsuk" reply="4" id="2185312"]In a way, Stardock had it coming because they made the game in such way that playing is only possible on official servers. If servers were decentralized quake1-3 style, players (including pirates) would set up their own servers and wouldn't overload official servers. But that's an inconvenient truth. Towers and fortresses are gone forever when killed. This is intentional, to keep the game from going back and forth indefinately. (or at least a long time) Rook can indeed spawn towers, but they are weaker, limited in number and temporary. (they disappear after a while, or when an additional tower is built over the current limit)

3. 8+2 coming up is just fine starting out. The barrier of god knows how many heroes in DotA is a very effective way of keeping new people out. We like new people here. (on account of them buying a copy, for a start) Also, if you have lots of Demigods/heroes the differences in play-style wind up being minute. 4. Yes. That was the point. 5. Why? Must you know every detail of your enemies strategy to have a fun time? 7. Teamwork will take off as more

Demigod is truly a great game, but 10/10 is kinda pushing it. The review was also pretty gushing, I'd like to think a review can be somewhat critical while still loving a game and giving it a good score. Then again, I don't give anyone a 10/10 for anything , (there is always something that can be improved, perfection is just a goal to strive for) unless it's just the mathematical outcome of making zero errors on a test or something.

On the "the used version is identical to the new version, so there is no wear and tear effect" thing: Has it been conlusively stated that a "second hand" copy of a game will also be eligable for re-sale under this scheme? If second hand copies can't be re-sold again , then there's your "wear and tear". (An artificial limitation, I know. But since the companies handle the transfer of the game-key etc. it is something that is well with in their power to do.)

May I assume that some elite Drengin "lawyers" have been dispatched to "settle" the matter with Gamestop? Wasn't it also Gamestop that released Dawn of War 2 early in Australia? (causing all sorts of activation havoc on Steam) Seems like this is getting to be standard policy more and more. Maybe they had good results in the Australia flap? AFAIK, Stardock will happily publish any game. It's just that you need to provide you own funding to actually make it. Stardock just does the publishing stuff. (their own games excepted, of course) They will help out with advice etc. (as with Sins of a Solar Empire) but you have to bankroll the production yourself. So it kind of depends what Achron's developers need from a publisher: someone to put the final result on the market, or someone to provide money to pay saleries et
