Not sure I think you might need to contact the forum manager to fix that --- not sure how to do that either, but there must be someone who is overseeing the forums and has editing powers (like being able to lock or even delete inappropriate threads.). Perhaps this person will notice?

I saw this one time last night. I received a colony ship as a reward, THEN had to fight the pirates, and lost. But still could sail away with the colony ship. Very odd. I was running 97.7 opt in at the time. You should probably move this thread to Support. (Edit your original post and change the header line containing Feedback to Support). Also you seem to have spawned two threads instead of one (it happens). You should pare this down to one to

And now for something completely different. (Apologies to MP). The two major genres of computer games that I have enjoyed over many years are turn-based RPGs and Strategy Games. I think Skyrim is "pretty good"; but I am not talking about the vanilla game, I am talking about the heavily modded version(s) that I played which incorporated heightened graphics, realism,

I have a couple of comments (low for me, I know). 1. First, Larsenex's way of playing a very big galaxy but with rare habitable planets (I am thinking, sort of like how the Milky Way actually is, likely) is a very interesting idea and one that gives a huge difference in "feel" as compared to abundant, etc. Less stuff to manage but the individual encounters, etc., are more meaningful. Course you get that with a smaller game, but with a large galax

(This is my own opinion, don't blame SD for anything I say here.) I agree that a full, accurate manual (oh, probably about 300 pages maybe?) would be a very nice thing. I find it hard to believe anyone would argue about that. It is also, at the this stage and for the foreseeable future, a pipe dream. The game is still changing very quickly, and it will continue to do so for several years; which is a very good thing that I think mo

I haven't tested 97,7 yet. I have over 100 invasions without incident using 97.5. I have been working on the Wiki, finally finished first draft of the ship parts - there are a LOT of parts lol, so maybe I can test today .

I have no trouble finding pics and logos, but one issue I do often have is trying to arrange the pic so that the area surrounding the body in the large picture is transparent so that I can use the stock backgrounds. Haven't been able to solve that one yet. Every time I try to save something from paint I get a message that any transparency will be lost if I save it. Any suggestions would be helpful. Perhaps I just need to find pics that are all ready cut

One thing that seems certain to me is that the relative ability of a race as played as AI is quite different from their relative abilities when played by actual humans (single or MP). We know how to take advantage of things that the AI is just learning. I am not too concerned though at the present state of things, as I believe the AI will continue to improve for some time. At the moment I still see common mistakes like colonizing a small planet in the middle of another fac

Sorry to hear you are still having problems with the battle viewer. It's been two or three weeks since I had a battle viewer freeze; before that it was fairly common. Hopefully they can get you sorted out fairly quickly.

I have run a new 0.97.5 game and run > 50 invasion tests on five different planets, both major and minors, and with different approaches to the attack and different combinations of transports and different populations in transports. So far I have have had ZERO bad invasion events. I have been defeated some times, but that was poor leadership, those leaders will be sacked. Very curious what results other people are having with the latest hot fix. <p
Open the shipyard, then hover your mouse over the listing (bottom right) where the queued ships are displayed. Make sure you are hovering on an empty spot, i.e. not on top of a queued ship. Should show accumulated production.
This is correct, however I would note that if there is no accrued production, then hovering in the indicated area shows nothing. I think it ought to display "Zero accrued

I have posted the size of galaxies here: https://forums.galciv3.com/463642/page/1/#3538947 If you get an idea on smaller maps what seems right to you, then you can scale up the number of factions to larger sizes using this table. In your specific case, 4 AI players is far too few. i suggested in my post that if 8 was right for Huge, that you would need about 60 for insane, but I pic

Your post is a useful piece, but I would put a little different emphasis on "ways to improve". A basic, first time out tutorial has to try to skip advanced topics, or pretty much anything that won't come up in a game for many turns. In a small game like the tutorial, rally points are a confusion best left for when the gamer has the basics of moving things around and has enough stuff going on that it will be useful. UP and extreme planets are importa

I think a saved game is helpful if combined with a TM forced dump before one kills the GC3 process when it happens. I find that yes sometimes it works and sometimes not, but if I try a few times it will fail again. So I think there is a fair chance it might be reproducible at SD. The crash dump has to be useful in any case, and I think that a save file helps with the interpretation of the dump file. But it may be wishful thinking, but I agree wit
Wonderful! Thanks to STEAM I didn't even get Beta 6, 720 MB of 2,200 after three days. Now I start all over with measly 32.8 MB of 2,600. I like GalCiv, but with STEAM it's a pain in the ass! Oh, yes. I've a connection with 55.000 kBit/sec, not a 300-baud-accoustik coppler. Did I mention that I dearly love STEAM?
Interesting, I have about the same download/upload speed, ~60 Mb/s,

I have taken the attitude that this is one of those balance things that probably won't settle until some time after release. But whatever it ends up it is going to be helping, so I set my planets to have decent morale, 100% if it doesn't mess things up too badly. Sort of the attitude I am taking toward a lot of stuff, not trying to carefully min/max because it will keep changing for a while. None of this is meant to minimize the importance of getting this particu

What you need to do is go to the bottom of the list of buildings and find the projects (they will always say NA and have project in the name). Choose one and click the queue button. What happens is that any social manufacturing is then converted into whatever the project calls for. So if it is a research project, you get some more research.

I have created 26 races so far. Some I made up from posts of pictures/logos on this forum, some from the contest submissions, and so forth. It is so funny to play against the Angry Joe Army --- that was from Frogboy's post. Still need more though. Calculating the number of hexes (I posted that somewhere) per galaxy size and about how many factions I would like per hexes I estimate I should have about 60 factions going on insane to have a decent game. &nbs
