Just FYI - Fences is still doing this, albeit infrequently. Did it to one of my .exe shortcuts which resided in a standard Fence this morning. The name was taken from a .txt file on the Desktop and the .exe's shortcut renamed with it. It happens to me about once a month, usually right after I've created a new file and placed it on the Desktop. Seems to happen right at boot time. Definitely not resolved. <img src="https://i.imgur.com/1V2lvbI.png" alt

Bug is resolved. Only two system configuration changes were made to get resolution, neither of which was directly linked to Fences/Deskscapes: - A RAMdrive file loaded at boot was moved off the faster C: drive (a SSD) onto a ReFS volume (on spindle-drives) which is much slower. This increases boot time appreciably (from ~6 seconds to ~20). - Items in the user's Startup folder were removed and their command lines placed in the "Run" area of the Registry inste
I would guess that it is impossible to test a software on every conceivable rig/setup.
It is Windows 10, with a Nvidia add-in card, running on the driver version specified in my Stardock support tool output, with >1 monitor. That can't possibly take more than 20 minutes to replicate. Whether you call it a Stardock issue or a Nvidia issue - it's behavior exhibited by the Stardock software, which p
I used to use AMD, but not any more. The system in question was rebuilt early-to-mid Summer this year, so hasn't had time enough to get 'dirty' and things to go wrong with it. The bug existed right after the rebuild as well. I too build all kinds of systems (office, personal, gaming, etc) for clients, so am not a stranger to standards and things to avoid when building. Generally I rebuild my primary computers every 12-18 months, so they stay clean. It sounds
Deskscapes purge (via .bat) unsuccessful - bug remains. Landscape multi-monitor (not Nvidia Surround) test exhibited the same issue as portrait (flipped) mode for all monitors. Updating existing ticket.
Yes, though I can't imagine it would be any different, as Windows is handling the monitor rotation. The only configuration I've tested it with which works (no issues running Fences/DS together), is a full Nvidia Surround merge of all three monitors. I can however, test with a landscape orientation without even physically moving them. I'll update the ticket with both when I add the DS purge info.
I have also updated the ticket. While I knew the outcome before trying, I nevertheless went and used the purge batch file at your request, reinstalled 3.0.5.12 clean, restored a snapshot, rebooted, and re-tested. The problem persists. Without developer intervention, this breaks Fences 3.0 / Deskscapes 8 integration for multi-monitor implementations.
So giving me instructions on how to purge Fences is somehow more advanced diagnosis than what Brad Ather and I were doing? I do IT support for a living, everything from tablets, to desktops, to networks, to rack servers. I know the impact of asking someone to "reinstall" an app. It was one of the first things I did, before even creating the ticket. It sounds like there's been no advancement or attention paid to the bug in 90 days. I'll shelve the Stardock sui
I reported the same behavior in Fences 3.0 a couple of months ago, was given instructions on how to clean-reinstall Fences. I run a multi-monitor portrait configuration, and frequently see shortcuts renamed and moving to wherever they want outside of their assigned fence. Given the support response I saw on that ticket, and the 3-month old unresolved bug from another ticket I have going, I'm not confident about support's ability to resolve these things. I wish you luck i
Opened a ticket on Stardock eSupport back in the beginning of September (#IGB-111-75441) for a bug I'd seen happening for a while. Was initially given support by Brad Ather. It was determined after a rather lengthy process that there was a bug in either Fences 3.0, or Deskscapes 8 (or both), as they would not work together in a Windows 10 multi-monitor portrait configuration (proven). I asked when I could expect a resolution, to which Brad replied it was "going to the deve
I am logged in and working on my primary computer, but the secondary that is linked through Multiplicity is not logged in. If my mouse strays over to the monitor of the secondary computer, I cannot get it to come back to the primary monitor. The secondary computer permanently captures mouse input until the login process is completed. Primary computer: Win10 Anniversary x64 Secondary computer: Win7 x64
Still happening, even after Windows 10 Anniversary update. Right-clicking Windows Explorer in task list and choosing Restart fixes. Still annoying however. Happens every 2-3 days when working with files in fence folder portals.
Steps to unload Multiplicity: Open Windows Tray Right-Click Multiplicity Choose 'Unload Multiplicity' Verify you approve Verify again for the UAC prompt that appears Is it me, or does it seem a bit unnecessary to have multiple verification prompts? Every other tray app I can think of simply exits when you tell it to. Was it not plausible to simply exit Multiplicity when prompted? Do we need the ve
Do snapshots of the fences in use not work when you restore that snapshot? For handling desktop icons cleanly, I use DesktopOK, a free tool that seems to work well even with Windows 10. http://www.softwareok.com/?Download=DesktopOK No idea why your icons are disappearing, unless they're part of a corrupted fence that is staying invisible. If uninstalling/reinstalling isn't helping, you could try a
I'd suggest pushing it out as an update then, given that it is a small fix. I can't see myself emailing support for the fix - I'd forget if I ever had to reinstall and/or rebuild the OS (which happens). And while I appreciate the investigation, TheJarnis does have a point. The Pro software is part of a paid subscription suite, and as such it *should* be patched and regularly updated as needed. I'll wait patiently for the patch to come down the line, a
Using a set of rolled up fences in Windows 10, Fences v3.0.1. When I hover one to unroll it (this one is a folder portal), right-click and create a new text file, rename and edit that text file, the fence stays unrolled until the next reboot (or possibly restart of Fences). I've tried toggling it's roll-up status with no success. I have seen the problem once before, but don't remember what kind of fence it was at that time, so this is not an isolated incident.</p
Using Multiplicity v3.42 KM Build 00080, it was downloaded ~3 days ago off the site here. The Primary computer/monitor is running Windows 10 Anniversary edition (x64) as of a week ago. The secondary computer/monitor is running Windows 7 Pro x64. Both have updated driver sets and run without issue otherwise. The primary has 3 monitors attached, but the game in question only runs on one of them in native 1920x1080 mode. I can't determine Uplay version throu
Found out after some trial and error while playing Far Cry 4 that if the mouse travels off the primary computer's monitor and onto the secondary, it will cause a disconnection notice in-game from Uplay, and then exiting the game will crash Uplay. The simple way to test this is to unload Multiplicity and run the same test, which causes no disconnects or crashes.
I already made one last night ZubaZ, thanks for asking though - it never hurts: MOB-583-32440 Still nothing in my downloads area, have it set to auto-refresh a few times an hour. If you check up on it, ignore my short temper - all the waiting to get software recently has me on a short fuse. Thanks.
In case others need the help, my problem was due to having logged into Stardock with one email, and then purchasing the products with a PayPal account under a different email. You should be sure to use the same email for both.
This is an unrealistic request, given that Paypal can have many email addresses tagged onto the same account. Mine has three - my business email (the primary), my personal email, and my gaming email.
Still a problem with Deskscapes, almost five years later. When running (even when paused, disabled, or after having stopped it's service), it still forces the timer resolution down to 1ms, willfully wasting power. Clearly efficiency was never Stardock's intent where this software was concerned. It is poor programming.
If you go to stardock and log in, click my purchases you should have a download link right there for FE. The serial you have isn't valid likely due to you trying to install a steam copy of it.
From what I understand this has changed now for new FE purchases through Stardock. The download link I see next to FE, has a link to download the Steam software, not FE itself.
Thank you Derek, that fixed the game telling me the serial was invalid. The CD key from Steam is in fact the "serial number" the game was asking for. However , I'd like to point out the oxymoron of the system that is in place right now. Steam product registration requires the Stardock serial number, whereas the Stardock software requires the Steam number. It is completely non-intuitive, and I expect it will continue to generate support tickets for
Thanks for the vote of confidence Kongdej. I'm hoping support will be working tomorrow and can sort it out easily. Harpo - this product is activated specifically via Steam - you give Steam the Stardock serial number, it activates the product and allows you to download it. Unfortunately, it *still* has the Stardock DRM for activation, which is totally separate. That asks me for Stardock account info and a serial, which it declares as invalid. =/ You ca
Purchased FE via Stardock website. Took serial number and activated on Steam. Installed game. Launched, and was presented with an activation screen for FE (2nd level DRM?). Enter in valid Stardock account information and the serial number from the Stardock account products page, and.. it tells me the serial number is invalid. Attempted with the same serial as presented in the purchase email.. still invalid. Started a support tick
