Which leaves me to still needing help to determine if this is a per-pixel Windows Blinds bug (exposed by GlassCMD) or something that can be corrected in all per-pixel skins. This is very easy to reproduce; almost near the time it takes to create a post. I would open up a support ticket to confirm if this is a bug or not; but, would prefer if someone could look at this with a second pair of eyes before submitting a support ticket.

There are plenty of CMD replacements. I'm not interested in any of those since all the onces I've found require too much change to the OS to get them to act exactly as cmd.exe; plus, none of them have the aero "blur" transparency look.
I think I have a transparent cmd replacement that doesn't use/need WB at all. .....somewhere...if I can find it...
I'm trying to apply aero transparency to the Windows command prompt; exactlu as GlassCMD does. I'm not interested in changing anything else.
Are you just wanting to apply transparency to the Command Prompt windows only like the program GlassCMD is designed to do, or do you use transparency all over in your UI? Because Windowblinds has the ability to apply transparency to not only frames if you so desire, but to even to
Apparently, this bug is caused by any skin that uses per-pixel Window frames. It's not limited to just the skins from this one developer. All the skins this skin developer creates uses "Per Pixel" in order to get the look he wants (I guess). If I forcably disable per-pixel elements in my skins, it prevents the weird transparent borders from showing in my GlassCMD-enhanced command prompts. However, it breaks my skin; causing it to look wrong: <img src="http:
PS: I tried to specify in WindowsBlinds to use a different skin for cmd.exe; but for some reason, Windowsblinds doesnt detect cmd.exe. I'm guessing it's because the Win764 system32\cmd.exe may cause Windowsblinds to look for the wrong cmd.exe. Anyone know which cmd.exe to specify for Windowsblinds to identify the correct cmd.exe process in it's "per application" settings?
Im sure there may be several of you who are in to desktop customization may be using Glass CMD for Vista and Seven featured on deviantART. It's just my luck that the only skins I'm interested from" 007tinar" (for whatever reason) all cause this "Glass CMD" mod to display incorrectly (seen below): It looks like this (with the weird
This really doesnt happen too often, but, once in a while I've noticed when I open an Explorer window, instead of using the skin I see on my desktop, it decides to open up without any skin. If I close it, shortly after, the problem goes away. Anyway, just odd that it happens once in a blue moon. I'm curious what causes this.
I'm anxiously waiting to install the final version of WindowFX (skipping the beta versions). Is there any way for me to receive an email on the day it's released?
It's been a long time since I've used Skinstudio. Im hoping someone can guide me to surgically replace my current boring grey "Details pane" to a tinted glass details pane. Since I don't have any experience creating images from scratch; nor do I want to learn how to do so just for a single image, I am hoping someone who has access to an existing dark grey tinted Explorer "Details pane" to show me how to use it for my skin. Im not sure if anyone makes Frankenstein
Im curious, when upgrading from WB 7.2 to WB 7.4, would it be better to uninstall WB 7.2 first, then install WB 7.4 if I want all traces of the old version to be gone? Does WB leave any orphaned files/registry settings behind after an uninstall? I know some Windows applications leave a mess behind in the registry after an uninstall.
I use an old version of PowerDVD to play my old HD-DVD discs. Unfortunately, the application was made back in the days where display cards didnt have enough GPU power to handle Aero glass while playing HD-DVDs.. so, the app just blindly disables Aero glass effects for my WindowsBlinds theme. This is a long shot, but I was hoping someone knew where applications access in the registry to tell the system to turn off/on desktop composition. I might be able to limit permissions
It looks like what I'm asking for is "Aero Glass remoting" on a Vista RDP client.
I have a dual monitor Windows Vista32 PC at work. When I RDP to my "Win7 64bit" home PC with stardock WindowsBlinds 7.3 installed, my stardock dark colored skin turns into bright solid grey on the taskbar. I would like to see the same skin; along with transparencies enabled via RDP. What am I doing wrong? I have never seen transparency working EVER when using RDP; even when I used to use XP on my work computer. I don't remember exactly, but I even upgraded
Nevermind, I spoke to soon, I think it was just a quirk, it went away. It works very nicely. I can already see one problem that was fixed... The Quicklaunch small icons can finally be double-height on a large taskbar. I wasn't able to do that with version 6.x-7.2
Hmmm... I thought this upgrade was supposed to make things better with Outlook2010. It looks like it introduced an issue. I didn't have the below problem in 7.2; or ANY other Windows Blinds versions, including 6.x. The Outlook Mail Compose window has Quick Access Toolbar buttons and Titlebar title protruding; with part of the titlebar cutoff. Is this a known issue? <a href="http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h
Hi, I was wondering if there's a release notes document that shows what's specifically fixed or new in WindowsBlinds 7.3 besides Office10 enhancements and Win8 skins. I'm trying to decide if it worth it to upgrade if I dont plan on using the Win8 skins. Perhaps there are performance and/or visual enhancements? If so, what are they? What specific bugs are fixed? Also, can I just install WindowsBlinds 7.3 on top of 7.2? What's the cleanest w
Knock on wood, I'm very happy with the performance and stability I get with the latest WindowsBlinds 7.2 (build 297) under Windows 7 64bit. Im RDPing from my work machine (Vista32 Enterprise) to my home machine (with WindowsBlinds on it). Is there a way to see transparencies in the RDP session? Windows blinds unfortunately converts my black Windows taskbar into an ugly solid light grey color. In older versions of WB 6.x, at least the taskbar was
Thanks, I already know its stable when set to high. I'm more interested in knowing what happens if I increase DWM process priority to realtime, that would make OS window drawing quicker, without introducing instability? Would that possibly degrade performance for other direct3D rendering done at the same time? Almost everything I do on my desktop is directshow/EVR (MediaCenter type stuff). I'm curious how it would affect that when set to realtime. [quot
I'm using Windows Blinds 6.4 under Vista32; and no plans to upgrade Windows Blinds or Windows OS version. I noticed that the only Windows Blinds processes I can identify... WBVista.exe and VistaSrv.exe are both set to Realtime. I know its general rule of thumb in most cases to never to set a process at Realtime. Having said the above; what kind of an impact would it have on Windows OS if I change the process priority of dwm.exe to Realtime (from the default "High
Is there another software publisher/distributor besides Impulse that sells Windows Blinds standalone? Im still stuck on Windows Blinds 6.4 (last standalone version). I'm pretty happy with that version; except Windows Explorer 8 and Office 2010 titlebars are completely messed up; even when I disable skinning for them. If we are still forced to installing Impulse; just so we can install Windows Blinds, maybe someone has instructions on how to completely remove all traces
Neil, when new customers buy SKS, they receive a direct URL download for the latest build. I just want to know where that is without having to buy it again. I can understand if SKS needs regular patches like Microsoft Windows Update on Patch Tuesdays to justify the need for a proprietary downloader/installer, but forcing to install Implulse for a one time install on a new machine just doesnt make any sense ...or all software devleopers would follow this practice.. making Windows a
I'll try asking sales support. If I buy Skin Studio Pro now, I will get a real/direct URL to download it. I guess if I had dozens of apps that I downloaded regularly from Stardock, it would make more sense to have a dedicated downloader/installer. But having a dedicated downloader/installer doesnt seem to make sense for only 1 app that I need to download. Just imagine if every software publisher decided to make their own proprietary downloader/installer... it would rea
Thats the first thing I tried. Only Windowsblinds is available that way and the paid skins. For Skinstudio 6 Professional it says the following: SkinStudio 6 Professional: DL 1: http://www.impulsedriven.com/about.asp (Please install Impulse to download.) Anyway, still looking for a real URL to download it. I'm sure there's gotta be an installer executable. Maybe via FTP? Originally, when I bought Skin Studio, i was pointed to
I would like to download my updated copy of Skin Studio Pro (which I'm registered for) without installing the bloadware Impulse product? I just need a URL. Do I need to email customer support? Thanks in advance, MKANET
Okay, if Stardock doesnt want to fix what they broke. Could someone please at least tell me what I can do in Skinstudio to get the taskbar to be Windows Blinds 6.1/6.2 friendly? I think Neal said something about if I add transparency to the images in the skin itself, I wont need to force transparency in WB on the taskbar; hence, when Aero effects get disabled, it will look black still. Thanks in advance for someone kind enough to help.
