Thanks for the heads-up Zoomba. :)

I say there needs to be new in-game options in regards to pre-starts. :) Would help get the game going quicker. Players could be given varying amounts of ships / buildings / territories and the action could start straight away.
Yeah sorry I should've classified what kind of user I was. I'm a power user, who installs alot of games and deals with a fairly large amount of files. I have half a terabyte of storage in total on my machine (in the form of 2 250GB HDs).
I just recently started using Diskeeper (after I decided that Defraggler wasn't really anything over the default Windows Defrag apart from better performance). Now I know Diskeeper were the ones who licensed the current Windows defrag program to Microsoft, but that one just has the basics. At the moment I am using a trial of Diskeeper 2008 Pro Premier. Apart from the normal manual defrag tasks, it also has quite a few automated features such as real-time defragging (which takes
Something I don't see mentioned much is the technology upgrades (particularly the weapon / armour / shield upgrades). I believe currently that they are difficult to justify purchasing unless you have a large force that can counter-act the cost of the technologies in question. These technologies should be tweaked with smaller battles in mind, as well as creating a new possible tactic that a player could have a small force that is technologically superior to their enemy's larger yet under
Don't know why you've had such an issue with the serials, I've purchased multiple games from Stardock now and its never been an issue. :) Anyways, a helpful tip for you to avoid any serial entering in the future would be to actually buy the games through Impulse itself (as opposed to through the website or retail). Reason for that is, as soon as your payment is accepted your serial is sent and registered in Impulse automatically - therefore avoiding the process of entering any serial al
Didn't think I was the only one. :) If I had the time and moneytary capacity I'd organise a gamers only LAN here in Sydney for the real PC gamers out there to enjoy.
The research cost calculation is not a bug. Late in development, there were a number of posts complaining that researching late stage techs was too cheap and that it should be more epic. Therefore, we added that if the # of techs researched > N then cost = cost X Z where Z is a factor that slowly increases. It is working as designed, it's just that you guys (and us) don't like it. So we're changing it back to the way it was.
The sign of a good game developer
All i here is whine whine whine. LRM spam doesn't win games. I think some of u just dont want a bruised ego, and the rest are cynical about humanity in general.
Haha, and you wonder why we don't bother online. If its populated with jerks like you, no thanks. ;)
The single-player is definitely more challenging now than it was originally (particularly on the higher settings). The AI will even gang up on you as a common enemy if you are the strongest player within the game. :) Give it a try.
Well I think any sort of requests for feature changes to ICO are irrelevant at this stage. Its not too long until we will be using Stardock's common multiplayer platform client and I'm sure we'll see an abundance of new features there. :)
My number 1 request apart from "insert cool new gameplay here) would be an updated particle effects system that isn't just texture based. :D I have 320 stream processing units on my video card, I'd like them to get used!
Xfire seems to have a nasty history of making selective games crash, it was severe enough for me to stop using it. Mind you it wasn't very often but between crashing mid-game and being able to chat with friends I picked the former. :P
Maybe when the game actually rewards strategic thought and fleet combinations. Until them, I'll avoid the LRM spam thankyou. ;)
As for my credentials, apart from being a long-time gamer and modder I have studied game design at university with real-time strategy games being one of our focus topics. I got a distinction in this subject. I think I would know what makes a good game. Spam and single/few-unit tactics does not make a good game.
The game is flawed in that it rewards the use of as few unit-types as possible (which is further backed up by how the technology tree research options are set up). A good, fun RTS has you use all the units at your disposal otherwise what's the point of including them? There are just too few dominant strategies in this game that don't make online play any fun as you see the same thing over and over again. Spam is not fun. People who do it are not fun to play with, and therefore
Geez some people can be thick (looking at Fluxx's way, you should be ashamed mate splurting uneducated lies like that like some sort of angry teen). Stardock has been incredibly busy as of late, mostly for the benefit for us gamers. Whether its further improving their brilliant new Impulse client, putting the finishing touches on new titles that they need to get done (Political Machine), communicating with their buddies at Ironclad and Gas Powered Games as well as maintaining their li
I'm an online savvy player, and have played my fair share of online games (of every genre) as well as single-player games. There are particular reasons as to why I really stopped playing online (which are completely reversible by some patch changes). First and foremost, in order to win an online game of Sins you have to employ a monotonous strategy in order to win. This means rushing to tech to certain units and technologies because they are superior choices to anything else in the game
The equivalent in 3ds Max to nulls is the dummy object under helpers. To find it simply click on the create tab, then underneath the tabs select the Helpers box and then select Dummy from the Object Type list. :)
I recently reinstalled Vista on my machine. Apparently my serial number no longer works, after typing and retyping it over and over in a horrible service UI that not only doesn't provide dashes, or tell you if they are needed, or capitals, or anything else, but gives ZERO information on what is wrong.
Translation: Waaaaaaaah. On a more serious note, you would be best off sending an email to support@stardock.com (that is the right email off memory) to get hel
A 8600GT can run on max setting? Is it really true?
Probably, but you may be limited in regards to the possible resolution or anti-alias setting. This is based off the fact the card is approximately half as powerful as my card in comparison.
Not really no. Unless the story was fleshed out more maybe (with some actual memorable characters introduced), I really can't find myself attached to any of them.
Yesterday while I was at the Sydney Gaming League, EA was there and setup several Xbox 360s with the new Battlefield: Bad Company game on display. I think it was the demo that was recently released or the full version of the game - I really wasn't sure. Anyway, here's my impressions of the game as I saw it. Keep in mind I don't actually own a Xbox 360 (my experience with it is really only the controller as I have the windows varient for my PC), but I am a Battlefield veteran (since th
Yesterday I went to the Sydney Gaming League event. Its basically a big LAN event where people from all over the Sydney region get together with their PCs and have a good time. The sad truth of this event is, nearly 90% of attendees were not interested in gaming at all. Instead, they all fired up DC++ ( a file sharing program) and shared files (you can guess what kind) with each other. The other 10% (the TRUE PC gamers) were having fun playing games with each other or just playi
Thanks for that informa48tive post Lost_WLd. I too am looking forward to the 4850/4870 release. The HIS HD3850 I currently have is hands down the best graphics card I have ever purchased. It just gives and gives and was incredibly cheap (at $286 AUD for what is considered to be a premium version of the card with a custom cooler - its now selling for as low as $200 AUD). It lets me play all the latest games on my 22" widescreen LCD with all the settings on high with reasonable levels of
