My brother got his gold and items stolen and the GMs weren't exactly efficient in getting it back. But I'd imagine thats no easy task (the server logs must be huge). Other than that I've had no issues personally (the only thing that annoys me in WoW is the Alliance to Horde ratio - they should force it to be as close to 1:1 as possible to keep things fair).

Now here's an interesting discussion for all you strategy fans (and game designers too!). I refer to RTS games mostly in this article but it can be applied to other types of strategy games as well. :) In most traditional strategy games, the player can recruit / build "units" for the purpose of getting closer to the goal of winning with the selected unit taking a place within a player's strategy. Normally there is some sort resource requirement to stop the game from degenerating into m
I'd rather the update stay only on Impulse. Don't want to make it easy for the pirates to get benefits that us paying customers have effectively provided. Besides it also means quicker patch testing which means patches come even sooner once they are done. :)
I can understand Sins moving to impulse, it will allowing for constant micro-patching which is a good thing, and impulse does sounds like a good idea, but 1.1 is not a micro-patch and i do not have reliable internet at h
In regards to a game's stability, developers can only do so much. Its not their fault when people try to play games with convulted PC setups. If you have a PC built from the ground up for gaming it is rare to find a game (from a reputable developer) with any major crashes / errors. :)
Well from the looks of the 1.1 changelog the game itself is getting quite the overhaul in terms of visuals and gameplay, so you might not have to resort to mods afterall to keep your interest up. That said, there are still some really cool mods out there. My favourite is Bailknight's graphics mod which overhauls every single special effect in the game. You can find it (along with a whole bunch of other mods) in the Sins of a Sol
This beta update will be available only through Stardock's new Impulse platform sometime in mid-July. We will no longer be providing standalone patches for future versions of the game.
Please note that when they say this they mean that they will no longer be making the patch files freely available on the internet. They are instead obviously moving to using Impulse as the preferred format of updating (which is good because I don't want pirates getting freebies from those o
Most of you know Company of Heroes was one of the first "next-gen" RTS titles to come out in recent times. It brought RTS gameplay we all have come to know and love along with cool other elements such as dynamic cover (including destructibles), intelligent squad AI and havok physics. The game's level of detail rivalled that of FPS games. The game has had a pretty good life so far, although it hasn't been without its balance niggles and bugs. However overall the game has been a good ti
Needs to be somehow intergrated with ObjectDock...
My sentiments exactly. We really need this to be integrated with ObjectDock. I'm holding off on buying the full version of OD until I see what SD is planning in regards to this. :) I hope they do integrate it. Would be simply awesome.
At least you guys have an restricted / 18 years and over only rating for video games. No such thing exists here in Australia, if a game can't be put as high as restricted to 15 year olds its banned. I hate being coddled by the government. :NOTSURE:
CCleaner is probably the easiest way to do basic maintenance on one's machine. And its as simple as one click. :D
Nice. I was gonna get a Q6600 as well but settled on a E6850 instead because its all you really need for today's games. Eventually games will use more than 2 cores but when that time comes, it'd be time to upgrade the CPU anyways. X-(
Cool. Gestures seem to be all the rage lately.
Geez Australians can be crazy at times. Oh wait ... *looks at self*
Firefox 3 is teh win!
I was wondering this as well. I reckon it should be a configurable option in the 1.1 update. Ironclad, make it happen!
Klaus you're overreacting like a 2 year old. Grow up.
Yeah thats Games for Windows certification, but that does not neccessarily mean its a Games for Windows Live enabled title. Here's an example of a Games for Windows title with Live: [link="http://www.gamesforwindows.com/en-US/Games/Pages/GearsofWarforWindows.aspx"]WWW Link[/link] Notice below the Games for Windows banner in the right corner the little Live symbol thingy.
Uh? Sins doesn't use GFW Live.
...and let us be grateful that is the case!
Well following Valve's current trends, they have updated one "offensive" class and one "support" class. I'd be willing to bet that the next update will be on one of the "defensive" classes so that would mean either Demoman, Heavy or Engineer. I'd be willing to bet it will be either Heavy or Engineer (with Engineer being more likely since they are discussing things such as upgradable teleporters and such as of late).
The servers over here in Aus seemed to have "cooled down" here (tehehe). Last few games I've played have seen less Pyros (mind you, you'll be seeing him alot more than before the update from now on mainly because the class is actually playable now).
Cool game idea. I love physics-based games. Good luck with it. :CONGRAT:
Just recently Valve unleashed their latest update to Team Fortress 2. Last time the focus was on the Medic class which while very valuable to the meta-game within Team Fortress 2, was underappreciated by players because of its simple nature and lack of combat options. This time the focus is on the Pyro class. Until the release of this update, the Pyro had a number of fundamental flaws (both gameplay and bug related) that made the class more difficult to play than he really should be.
Been playing quite a few games lately. I've been playing The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass on my DS. Trying to finish it as quickly as possible because the girlfriend wants to play it after. I've been playing my usual variety of PC games too. Just got back into Sins of a Solar Empire (thanks to Bailknight's excellent particle effects mod v1.3) and Galactic Civilizations II (thanks to the tweaked research algorithm in the latest 1.95 patch). Also been playing Mass Effe
How could you not want to develop PC games with a install base like that. Mind you the amount of computers that could actually run today's modern games would probably be significantly smaller.
I like it alot too. Its a fun racer that puts the Need for Speed series to shame. :D My only complaint is the "rubber-band / catch-up AI" and the different physics given to the AI (you can't knock them around as well as they can knock you). This leads to unfair races and later on some of the races are unneccesarily hard only because of this. :(
