Games For Windows LIVE sucks. No really. It made it so bloody frustrating just to start playing Gears of War, and this was just the single-player. All the stupid loops I had to jump through before I could play the damn game was astounding.

Sins of a Solar Empire is a good GPU benchmark in regards to seeing how well a card can handle multiple geometric objects I'd say. :)
I wanna see high-res textures (which has been confirmed) and new particle effects for most of the ships (alot of the Vasari captial ship weapons are incredibly underwhelming and not pew-pew enough  ).
@phazon Lol my post about baseless assumptions was aimed at the Original Poster - ironclad not working hard etc . I actually remember I had the reply screen on for ages , because I was going to type a bigger post. You might have ninja'ed infront of me.tho yea lol , I guess I was a hypocrite
My bad. Should've realised that since you weren't quoting me. :)
A gpg type thing? NahhhI tell you what sort of interface would pwn - An IRC Interface. Then Anyone who owns sins and has an internet connection will probably hop onto Online sins. IRC rules
Thats a baseless assumption right there, Mr. Hypocrite. Just so you know, it has been confirmed by Ironclad that one of the causes of minidumps is because of certain configurations of Nvidia hardware and I only mentioned it to prove that this entire situation is not entirely I
Its not Ironclad's fault that there are hardware vendors out there who fail on their task to provide adequate driver updates. From last time I looked into this subject, it is only Nvidia card owners who are getting these issues mainly. It would explain why I have never seen the issue on my ATI equipped system. Therefore its not always just the software developer's fault, so please keep this in mind.
The AI in The Political Machine is very good (if I say so myself). But it also comes with multiplayer built in and will be the first PC game to make use of the Common Multiplayer Platform (CMP) that is being launched with Impulse . CMP is the answer to any gamer who has bought a game and struggled to find people to play multiplayer (especially strategy games).
So I guess you guys are going to be using this new CMP
Impulse is the easiest way of downloading and installing the patch for Sins (or any Stardock title). :)
Learn to P2P. ;p I think its strange how people still don't understand it all when it has been used in probably the last few major RTS games I have played (Supreme Commander and Company of Heroes).
Just out of curiosity, is it Nvidia users that are getting these minidumps? Because the only minidumps I've ever got was when I was purposely making the game crash to see limitations of modding it.
I'm glad they didn't include a campaign in this game. It allowed them to spend alot more time towards balancing and making the game bug-free :/ they were already strapped for time as it was.
My sentiments exactly.
When I purchased my new PC, I figured that to save myself some time and effort I'd just use a wireless card as the method of choice to connect to my router. Both wireless card and router are of the D-link brand, which at the time I had the impression it was a fairly solid brand that I have no problems with in the past. After installing the network card and going through the neccessary steps I managed to get it to communicate with the router. All good, yes? Well...that depends on one's
Microsoft seem to be as good manufacturing consoles as they are designing next-gen operating systems. Go Nintendo and their superior hardware (in terms of quality). ;)
PC parts such as CPUs and graphics cards have much better price to performance ratios nowadays, I don't really think PC graphics are getting too good for most people's computers as these two components are much easily acquired than they were a few years ago. ATI and Nvidia have both hit hard at the budget market with a wide range of cards, and some of them are pretty damn good. ATI's HD3850 in particular is one hell of a card, I only played $300AU for it and it can run a very playable
If only the default game looked like that Lost_Wld hey. *cough* Phazon wants way better particle effects for Sins expansion *cough*
For those wondering, here's my finished version for my FPS icon. Its orientated better now to suite OD better, and I've cleaned it up and added a slight drop shadow to it.
You guys have me sold to get the plus version. The tabbed / flyout docks sound particularly interesting and will probably provide a superior solution to my current method of using the folders which produce drop-down lists. :)
Looking good. :CONGRAT: If only it was based on Australian politics (ala the political system I DO actually understand).
Inbetween slacking off and procrastinating from doing Corporate Financial Management homework, I jumped onto Impulse just to have a look around and see if there was an update or anything. Upon browsing to the My Desktop tab I noticed a free trial for ObjectDock. Seeing that my desktop was a complete mess and I was in the middle of making an attempt to make my PC look as new-fangled and cool as possible I decided to give it a try. After downloading it and mucking around with the themes
Ok, here's an article that I wrote last night in my mind, but put on page this morning. Ever wondered why you can't afford any Adobe Software? It's because a large amount of its user base is pirating it. Yes, you have to pay $700 for a $100 program, and it's worse if you want multiple programs. Why is it that you complain about having to pay so much for software? It's because you ruin it for the rest of us. Instead of getting a cheap, $70 box, we have to pay $700 because an underground
Good to hear that development on The Political Machine 2008 is going well. It looks like a pretty interesting game. Hope to hear some news on your turn-based Fantasy strategy game soon. :D
I haven't encountered the issue yet (and very few others would have either) because this sort of DRM is new. The only game I have that has this sort of activation is Bioshock and at least there they have a system where I can "refund" an activation by using my serial information. Without such a system being used (such as the one proposed for Mass Effect and Spore) the limitations of limited activations will be felt in the future, and trust me Gormoth in that you'd find most people would go thr
You seem to misunderstand how it works though Gormoth. It basically means I can only install the game 3 times in its lifetime period (without needing to call their support and muck around). If I say, reformat my HDD 3 times over a period of say 2 years - how is it fair I have to come crawling to EA's support centre just to get the right to install the game on my PC? Edit: this is of course assuming the activation method is driven via the registry or anything relying on information stor
Gormoth1: Yes while not needing the CD is good, the limited installs is not. Especially when its limited to 3 and there is no way of "revoking" a used install (which could be as easily achieved as by performing a verification check).
For those interested, check out the responses at the Bioware Mass Effect forum: http://masseffect.bioware.com/forums/viewforum.html?forum=125 EA really wanna test the waters on this don't they. I hope they take this hostile reaction to heart that this is not how you treat potential customers. Particularly when your patch / post-release support history is pretty bad.
