How do I file a support request with Stardock? Windowblinds 6.2 is newly installed, and every time I right-click on my Windows Vista desktop, on an icon, or on the Windows taskbar, Explorer crashes with the following error: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: Explorer.EXE Application Version: 6.0.6001.18000 Application Timestamp: 47918e5d
I would start with the WB problem and when that is resolved work on this one.
It's unrelated to the WB problem, though. It strikes me that this is a bug because it's just related to (re)starting that service. That's why I posted, to see if others get this happening as well. If people do (and anyone can test it - just stop and then start that service and see what happens) then it's a bug. If not, it's some weird problem with my system. It's not a serious issue

Hmmm, can we have instructions on how to post images to this forum, please? [Other forums have instructed ON THE PAGE where you are actually posting - can we see this on this forum, please]. Also, can we have a PREVIEW of the post on this forum please, which will also avoid problems like this? (When I select 'Preview' in "Advanced Mode" I get 'Preview is currently disabled.') Here's my second try: Here's my Dock as it's SUPPOSED to look: [img]http://img3.freeimageho

The Desktop Window Manger Session Manager Service is the service which manages Aero effects, and which takes the place of 'graphics acceleration' on Windows XP and earlier Windows versions. For some reason it sometimes gets switched off when I'm using Windowblinds. When I start or restart this service (for whatever reason) the Objectdock Docks I have get scrambled up and show weird artifcacts. Mousing over the Dock fixes this. It's a weird bug. I'd like to add to this. Sometimes the Desktop Window Manager Session Manager service gets switched off when Windowblinds is running (usually after a reboot). Happens on both my Windows machines. The effect of this is like having Windows go into Classic mode (slow window animations, basic animations, etc) though with Windowblinds running of course you don't see the eye-candy difference. It seems like a few times a week I have to reach into Windows' services.msc and restart th

I have discovered that the issue is application specific. It is Opera that is causing this, and I think one other program but more rarely so I don't know which one yet. When I start Opera for the first time, the little white indicator shows up when I DON'T start it from ObjectDock. I will email support as you suggested since they don't seem to be reading these pages.

Thanks for the follow-up! Sorry, I figured it was mostly support people responding to specific issues on these forums so I just figured, what the heck? Yes, I guess it's weird. Sometimes I have not just one but two running indicators, and nothing else, at the top of my screen. The go away as soon as I mouse up to the top of the screen and the Dock appears. I will try and answer your question about whether they follow the change of position of the icon they correspond to, assuming the

I have TWO problems with Windowblinds, which I have just bought and paid for. (1) When I restart my machine, Aero is switched off. The dragging of windows, etc, is much slower, and there are tears. I do not know how to switch it back on. Redoing the Vista System Check and then reloading the skin in Windowblinds seemed to do the trick, but it will probably switch Aero off the next time I reboot. This has happened before. (2) There seems to be a compatibility problem with Y

So, I installed Windowblinds and started it, then when I went to reboot Windows sort of hangs just after the desktop shows up. Everything looks skinned, but nothing has been loaded in the taskbar, and there is an error message from Windows that says "Microsoft is searching for a solution to the problem" but it doesn't say what the problem is, and it just sits there (for over 10 minutes before I switched off the machine). There is only very basic interaction with the UI - I can get the start me

Hello, I have two monitors plus a TV attached to my machine. When I want to watch a streamed video podcast on the TV, I have to switch the second monitor to TV out, and the second monitor goes blank while signal is sent to first monitor + TV (this is limitation of many video cards - the internal graphics processor is such that video is limited to two displays concurrently). The problem comes when I switch the TV out back to the second monitor. The Docks that USED to be on the second display re

I don't know if this is relevant or not, but I am running 4 Docks (two on each of two monitors) plus a tabbed Dock - so 5 in total.

Since upgrading to 1.5 I've noticed that my Dock icons expand/contract in a very jerky way, in fact momentarily freezing when the mouse is over one Icon only to suddenly unfreeze a moment or two later when it's over another Icon. (I have them set to Autohide.) Changing performance options didn't seem to make any difference, and restarting the computer with a very basic startup (with msconfig - no non-Microsoft services, no startup items) didn't make any difference either, so it doesn't seem to b

Yes, I'm still having the problem, though I've figured out the culprit. It's a program called Actual Title Buttons (from actualtools.com), the latest version (4.2), which as it turns out conflicts with a number of programs - Yahoo Widgets, Eudora, and Objectdock among them. When I stop that program, all the problems go away. I've written to actualtools.com about it. Tech support made the lame suggestion that I had left that box unchecked, 'reserve screen space' or whatever, which was

OK, this only happens when the Z ordering is set to always on top. WHen it's normal Z-ordering, then the little piece of stolen desktop comes back after I click on an open window that's occupying it.

I have a newly installed 1.3 version, and it is stealing a chunk of my desktop. One autohiding dock blanks out a little piece of the desktop in the space the dock occupies when it's not hidden. I can't display any windows there, or put any icons there. It only seems to happen AFTER I've made modifications to the dock. The other autohiding dock, on a second monitor, reserves a wide strip of the desktop and blanks it out - it extends about 1/8 of the entire desktop, across the full width of th
