Aero swtiched off, problem with Yahoo Widgets
from
Stardock Forums
I have TWO problems with Windowblinds, which I have just bought and paid for.
(1) When I restart my machine, Aero is switched off. The dragging of windows, etc, is much slower, and there are tears. I do not know how to switch it back on. Redoing the Vista System Check and then reloading the skin in Windowblinds seemed to do the trick, but it will probably switch Aero off the next time I reboot. This has happened before.
(2) There seems to be a compatibility problem with Yahoo Widgets. As soon as I install Windowblinds and restart the machine, some of my Yahoo Widgets disappear, even though they are still there as I can change their preferences through the system tray icon. As soon as I even load the preference window for one of the 'disappeared' widgets and close it again (I don't even have to change a setting) the widget reappears. This only happens with certain widgets. Usually when first starting up these widgets are not displaying properly, and I have to go through the trouble of loading their settings dialog and then closing it, individually for each widget. Very annoying.
(3) There is also a compatibility problem with Ultramon. It is difficult to get Ultramon to run and it often crashes. When it does crash the error report indicates a problem with wblind.dll. I have contacted the author of Windowblinds and he recommends that I contact you about it.
(4) My Desktop experience seems marginally slower with Windowblinds switched on. Apart from the problem of reverting to Classic Mode, i.e. even when Aero is running correctly, it takes slighly longer for Explorer to open 'My Computer', etc. It is quite a marginal speed difference, but it is noticeable. Also I notice my system idles a few percentage points higher than when Windowblinds is switched off.
If these problems cannot be fixed, I will have to uninstall Windowblinds and ask for a refund.
