Thanks. I'm thinking I'll pick it up then.
I had no issues - when I uninstalled the 32 bit version and installed the 64 bit version, all of my jobs were still there.
Lame. They just need one version for desktop/laptop (in 32 and 64 bit flavors).
With 64 bit being the default if the system supports it.
I'm loving GoodSync :). . . . although it seems to be the 32 bit version. THeir website says they offer a native 64 bit version as well, and the 64 bit version can copy locked files on a 64 bit OS. Would it be possible to have Impulse detect the OS and donload/install the right one? In addition - the about box claims it to be a TRIAL version, even though I paid for it? It doesn't look like it expires, but what's up wiith that??
Got a mess here as well, lol. Plenty of stuff plugged into all of the USB ports and a USB hub, and my room is also the center of our home network and where the internet comes in. It's a pretty big mess, but somehow I manage to keep most of it behind my computer. Except the USB hub, where I have my iPod, card reader, and flash drive connected. And the charger for my "wireless" mouse. And my Skype phone. *sigh*.
Okay, I officially love Impulse and GoodSync now :). Okay, I always have liked Impulse, but this is stellar for hitting the nail right on the head. I've been on the lookout for a GOOD backup program for a long time. Windows backup didn't cut it. It kept filling my backup drive because it keeps recording more, and doesn't have an option to overwrite old files AFAIK. Nero has a backup program - that's worse than pulling teeth, finding drivers fo
Not quite sure I get it - it looks like just repeating the same graphics in the same place.
I'll keep that in mind for future reference, although that is now an old screen shot and has since been fixed.
I suppose it's a wiki, so it's supposed to have user created content, so I guess I might just start editing. Strange, though, that most stuff doesn't have anything filled in, although the software links to it.
Is is just me - or is the behavior of per-pixel frames using some sort of non-standard behavior for handling the sub-images? Interestingly enough, the program assumes the top and bottom borders are stacked vertically, even though the checkbox for stacking the frames vertically is not checked. Interestingly enough, checking the checkbox leads to some weird results. I think this could confuse first time users, and the behavior should be noted somewhere. . . . like the wiki the "Help"
The biggest problem is, frankly, that it even lets you try to do it. It is rather silly that it allows you to try to do it even though it will never be allowed!
The primary role of the colony ship is to colonize, so the only advantage of flying them out empty is to explore.
Or to go to a planet with extra population to get more settlers after dropping off settlers on a new planet.
See? Magic!
LOL! Now all I need is the magic WB skinner.
I've not seen that. What OS and Ver?
Vista Business, 64 bit with SP1 installed. WindowsBlinds is running with a custom skin. It may have been ObjectDock. I just closed and re-opened ObjectBar, and no ill effects.
First, ObjectDock is NOT part of ObjectDesktop.
Which totally explains why I have it under the "My Desktop" tab.
OB is a . . a. . a magic thing that can do so much more. It can replace the taskbar with DX widgets and menues and clocks and meters and oh . . it's wonderful.
Okay, I stick with OB, then. *uninstalls and hides OD*.
(there's a bug in OB that prevents it from pickin up a WB skin but it should be able to)[/quote
Okay - so, here I am with Object Desktop, looking for a possible Windows task bar replacement. Turns out OD does indeed come with two: ObjectDock and Object Bar. Which appear to be the same thing, with one just being a bit more like Mac OS X, and the other more like Windows. But they seem to have the same functionality - they're program launchers, and they both look like they're very flexible. So - my primary question is, is one replacing the other? What's the big difference? <b
For one thing, Skype and Firefox both have their own skinning engines - and when software uses its own skinning, if often doesn't work well with WB or SKS. Those menu borders in Skype are controlled, believe it or not, by the button face color. It doesn't make sense at all, I know, but often applications that have custom skins break all of the conventions for where to use the colors.
I'm looking to modify the background color, highlight colour and the font for both viewed and non-viewed items in the start bar and programs panel, and everything else, like control panel, for the classic start menu... for windows XP pro
I think the classic Start Menu color is simply the "buttons" or "menu" colors. I forget which. It's likely that it's based on one of the common colors, so if you change it, it'll change the color in a lot of other places. Getting
I've seen the Windows 3.11 skin change the color of the office icon in the upper left corner - I don't know how the author did it, though.
Found where the icon cache is (.AppData) and ran SFC. A restart later, I'm doing great. Seriously - check the program for compatibility before installing it, and check any system files you change for compatibility before replacing them.
Okay. I'm fine just changing the login screen :).
Same here - except that since I'm running 64 bit Vista, I can't get into IP at all to do all of the rebuild stuff :(. Help?!
Thanks for the explanation, Xiandi!
A rarely used and now mostly unnecessary feature because of the new colorize abilities in WB6.
A skin developer may want to include some color schemes with his/her own set of colors, or want the ability to control which parts of the skin are colorized. Some skins may have decorations that will look ugly if colorized. It sounds pretty useful for more complex skins.
I like SkinStudio 6, but it does seem quite quirky. Never tried 5, BTW. One thing that is sorta annoying is that I have to duplicate an image so many times, even if I don't want a separate image for all of the states and it's shared all over the place. BTW, do you know what colouring masks are?
See if you've got a button set wrong, check the visibility settings, and check the image count.
Turns out that the skin I was using as a base skin was using three images instead of the default six. When I switched to six images for the buttons, it started working.
