How about this reply, post mortem style. If anyone is idiotic enough to buy a game based on a review, nay, buy anything "entertainment" related based on reviews, then shame on them. I have movies and games that have gotten awful reviews, yet I love them. On the flip I have the same that have gotten the best reviews you could ever read, and the title sucked, period. Each one of us has to judge for ourselves what we like or not. When I first played this game I would have given it a two out of ten

But except for some techs, there is no way I can increase the defensive capability of my planets. Hence the comments in another thread regarding more improved, realistic, and functional planetary defense systems. The only one available really doesn't seem too effective and could be improved upon tremendously, which may be and option for the expan

I don't think I've ever had a ship get an experience promotion, mainly due to my odd sort of conflict-averse playing style. No,no,no Shiva, you have to go around and decimate all living organisms throughout the galaxy, didn't you know that? Well now that you do get out there and fight, fight, fight, even if your military is wrong and you don't real

Try stacking a few constructors on top of each other. The sphere should grow more prominent as you add more constructors to the stack. Not that this is going to help you any as the individual constructor on it's own will still have a faint sphere, but it will show you that it is not the monitor. Not sure if this helps anything but it was just my observation.

With regards to the anomaly statement, I thought that it was only the ship that found the anomaly which received the bonus, just like planets where you encounter pirates or receive one of the random starship bonuses, the bonus is only effective on the planet in question. I've never really conducted a "study" in game on the stats, I just play it, but it would be nice to know about the effect experience has on our ships and exactly how the "bonus" finds impact this.

multiple weapons types is generally bad, as is multiple armor types. Sepcialize your ships to beat a certain enemy and the game becomes a cake walk. I find having 1 weapon and all three def works better over all </

Stormbringer, make no mistake, if you're going to make personal attacks, we will remove you. Consider this your warning. What are you guys talking about?!? I am missing something so please point me that way okay? Who did I attack, and with what? Are you sure you are quoting something that I have typed? I saw no attack on my part. Seriously, what

So are you saying, Evil Stormbringer, that you didn't bother to play the betas, and now you're complaining about the results? Wow CariElf, that post of mine was from the 19th of September. Did you just catch it now? And if so, then my more recent post from the 29th of Sept. basically changed my position. And yes, I've played/tested everything tha

Just a thought, were minors allowed to take part in the contest? Yeah, what's up with that? Not to sound like a sore loser and all but WTF? Seriously, congrats Night Hawk you little.... ahem. Oh well, more to life than a free game eh people? To be honest though, I've read better ideas from people in here, whose names I didn't see in the winners l

To all the oldtimers (who have a wife) don't they get pi$$ed at the fact you play computer games!? Absolutely, however since I just spent $25,000 on her new car she tends to cut me some slack (for now at least). <

At this point I'm still in the colonization phase of my first v1.31 game After reading my reply to this I can see that I was kind of "wrong". Nevermind my earlier issues with this game altogether. I think it's an awesome game. The changes in 1.31 are definitely noticeable and completely destroyed my basic strategy for early game, which was planet

SHE CAN TAKE MY GAMING TIME NO,NO,NO,NO,NO!! Never let them take your gaming time! I mean, they might as well just take the family jewels and go "CRUNCH". See, the trick is to get her into a game of her own and just leave her there, like a little lost soul in the dark. Hours will fly by and while she's still trying to get Mario on to the mushroom

I like everything I read in the post and the first reply. In addition, the starbase should definitely have movement capability, even if it has to be restricted in some way or just have a relatively slow speed period. Starbases could really be used in alot of various capacities as you both mentioned. I think their purpose as the designers saw them was just what they do now in the game and doubt that the devs are really going to expand tremendously on their capabilities... unless we utterly bug th

Virus. Where it came from? Dunno. My mail isn't even set up on that machine. By the way, it is only 3 months old. Where ever it came from, it is one nasty virus. Hence my reasons for not wanting a game to be available as a download only. Please oh please, offer a cd version of Dark Avatar to me just as quickly as the download is available. I don'

Was just killing time at work reading the forums and thought I'd take a look at the age question one again. In reading that there are a few "older" people in here, for some reason the saying "old space dog" came to mind. Next thing I knew I was thinking about "Dog Soldiers", the typical ground troops used by Baron Karza in the Micronauts saga's. They used to be an "action figure" type toy that eventually had their own Marvel comics run as well as guest appearances in the Marvel VS. series. I ha
