The trick is not to lose control of your economy. I have found that by spreading quickly to colonize planets, but taking a few turns before you start producing stuff on the planet makes the colony fees a WHOLE LOT LESS debt causing. In fact, a new colony that is not producing anything gains you 3bc a turn. Odd... I always kill the computer before they can get that far on the tech tree. I've never seen a computer get past Photon (or the Laser/Mass Driver equivalent). I play on Tough in gigantic galaxy with all 9 races, and normal tech rate.

I wish we could destroy super projects. I mean they're buildings that, I think, can be destroyed in a Mass Driver invasion, so why can't we decommision them ourselves when we want to move our Tech/Econ/Political capitols to a better planet?

Yeah the ship name thing is just user error. Don't do it. I don't think that's a bug. It will just go to the first one with that name. But, if you insist, first stop all building of the old design with the same name and then over write it. There have been times when I make a design but forgot to add something and I immediately upgrade it and give it the same name. Hey Guys, I beleive I've found a problem. It seems that after the UP resolution to up the minimum contructor to 5pc/week is passed all my constructors are limited to 5pc/week. I have constructor designs with 4xWarp5 engines but only their first move is the full 29pc/week. After that they're limited to 7pc/week. Ever since the 1.1B2 patch, i've started using defense. I can tell you that defended ships perform MUCH better than undefended ones. I started to use heavy weapons small defense strategy.
