What Do You Think is the Best Galactic Wonder?

What Do You Think is the Best Galactic Wonder?

Personally I think that the Eye of the Universe is the best wonder, especially in the early game. Who wouldn't want a 15 parsec sensor radius for free for all your ships and stations.

So let's hear your thoughts on the best wonder.

myfavorite is really a super project but if you give expert miniaturifzation to everybody they'll build hyperion shrinkers this and high espionage means that your ships will be the most heavily armed armord and fastest in the galaxy

Research a Technological Victory... you'll get a nice answer (relating to the Douglas Adams reference).

Favorite? Eyes of the Universe... its just too good to pass up intel like that (plus the computer never bothers with researching sensors so you can do it anytime you want). I'm a big fan of the Temple of Evil/Good... the two wonders which let you get money off of the trade of other civilizations.

Question - I trade for a trade good from another race, do I really have it (since you can't trade it with another race)?

I wondered about buying a trade good also. Next time try looking at your stats before and after you buy it, to make sure it really goes up.

You can't trade it, because the inventors own the rights to it.

1) diplomatic translators
2) galactic bazaar
3) restaurant of eternity

you want all 3 of those, the rest dont matter as much

The Mind Control Center. While the flavor text claims it makes enemy planets flip faster, it really gives your civilization a 100% econ bonus. Completely indispensable.

u can always get diplomatic translators later.. it's a trade good. no need to build it yourself.

It's important to deny diplo translators to other races. It's best to build it and hoard it.

yeah, exactly, it's a trade good that you don't want anyone else to have.

re: mind control center, does it really give you a 100% econ boost? wow, my scores could have been a lot higher.

The restaurant at the edge of the galaxy... is my favorite... I know its not actually called that, but since the first time I ran across it I've called it that... One of the things I love so much about this game is all the sci-fi references that are snuck into the documentation and descriptions... Aside from the starwars/startrek that seem to be in every game, I've seen at least one B5 reference (not to mention the whole Antarian/human Minbari/human similarity...) and a couple of BSG references... Just awesome!

i love the galactic privaters, just cause i get to see people fighting me follow my cargo ships and not be able to do anything

Yes, Zevus it does. It acts like an economic capital, but gives 100% planetary bonus instead of 50%.

Speaking of the mind control center, I think there -does- need to be a wonder that preforms what the mind center is supposed to. I've played games where enemy colonys have been ripe for flipping, but didn't for over a year. There have been instances where my ratio is far beyond the 4 required (from 40 to 70), and it'd still take a very long period of time for it to flip. Usually by this point I am dominating teh game military and employ my cheap tactics:P

What cheap tactics? IF your military is significantly stronger than the AI's, you can declare war and immediately ask for peace + a quarter of the enemies planets. You take his planets, declare war again, peace again, take more planets, ad nasuem. Eventually when they have a handful of planets left they'll stop giving you any more, but at that point they're so crippled they may end up surrending to you. I bet you could win a military conquest this way without ever firing a shot or invading a planet:))

Bah, you guys are far to peaceful
Omega..... something - the other one that gives more ship HPs
That's the game winner
Plus the one that gives +repair rate, to keep those massive ships in service, is pretty sweet.

It's definately not the most powerful wonder, but my favorite is the spin control center. Build it on your production planet and pump out a massive orbital fleet of cheap, empty hulls. Congratulations, you now have a military deterrant that will not only greatly improve your relations and diplomatic possibilities, but will ensure that you only have to participate in wars of your choosing.

Eyes of the Universe is the only one I specificly try to get... That much information is just WAY to valuable in war or peace.

the rest I can live with or without..

I've had 2 all nighters in the last week and it's now 10:45 and I know after reading strategy for a little while longer I'm just going to want to go and try it out

My favourite wander is the eyes but I take the point about sensor ships.

useful thread.

QFT. Eyes is by far the best and the only one I ensure I grab. The rest I grab as I am able or according to the type of victory I am trying to achieve.

LOL Cluzo!!

I agree. I played this thing until about 4am last night and had to call in to work this morning. You guys at Stardock have made a very very very evil thing here.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

Eyes of the Universe. The only way the Ai can beat me is to sneak up on me... and they have no answer for when you sneak up on them.

IMO it is overpowered - First because the aI does not research Sensors. Ever. Maybe this will change in 1.1 ...

Second because the Ai relies on the FOW to win wars - next time you get the EoU set up a few long range sensors ships to watch the AI as they war among themselves - you will see unescorted transports just sitting there undetected out of the defenders sensor range until they can swoop in to take the palnet. Time after time....

I see that no one at all mentioned the worthless Galactic Guide Book. By the time I would be able to afford to build this anomalies are loooong gone. Anyboby know a more worthless wonder?
I didn't know the Galactic Guide Book existed. Thanks for the warning. I personally like the Galactic Stock Exchange. Money keeps the AI drugged and at bay.

Mind Control Center easily.
Someone else posted that it gave a planetary bonus which is wrong.
It gives a 100% economic attribute bonus meaning that it will nearly double the taxes income which makes all the Psyonic weapons suddenly seem cheap.
