I'm running into a weird thing along these lines. My approval rating suddenly dropped to 1%. Nothing I did (building entertainment centers, dropping the tax rate) would raise it, and eventually my Iconian Refuge empire split into the New Iconians. I lost my best planets to the split, and my approval rating was still 1%! </

No-one got any ideas then? Hi, maybe you already tried this (I haven’t read through both threads) but you could try setting the DirectX sound acceleration to basic or no acceleration. You are a 3D modeller do your have your refresh rate or your resolution set extremely high?

The precise effect of influence bases has been debated a lot - to my knowledge there hasn't been reached a definitive answer to the inner workings of the influence algorithm, but I believe it works something like this: Every square in the game is influenced by the IP of the different races, the race with the highest level of IP in a given sector controls it (as represented by the coloured borders). IP radiates from every colony (and to a less degree every starbase) into the surroundi

Have simmilar questions about the galactic guide book, it doesn't seem to be working as described, either that, or I'm missing something. The (Hitchhikers) Guide actually works as intended. It reduces the cost of the module to zero not the size. The text isn't very clear on the topic but this is how

I have had two crashes and SmartException picked up on both. Although when I tried to email the exceptions (actually just compressing the dump files) SmartException crashed saying it couldn't find 'sdczip'. I just love it when the debug software crashes BTW. SmartException writes the dump files to c:\ If you feel like it, you can have a look at th

I thought the Lucky Ranger had been fixed, but apparently it still suffers from a debilitating computer virus. This Ranger 'only' lacks point defences, but I have had rangers that would have been formidable war ships had all of their hardware been working properly. I don't know if they have been reduced because of balancing issues - but if so, couldn't the description at least be corrected. <a href="http://img56.imageshack.us/my.

In my current game I am up against the Altarins who are a lot bigger than I, so I'm trying hard not to get on their bad side. Recently I was checking their rapport and noticed a negative mark with the text "We know what you are doing..." This is nice and all but what am I doing? I have no influence bases, and generally trying just to keep out of the Altarins way. So what are they pissed about? I really would like to know.

Same thing happens here - the pointer gets stuck and XP has to be restarted before functionality returns. 1) Geforce 7800 GT 2) No 3) No 4) Standard WinXP cursor. When exiting the game, the following is generated in the log (debug.err) : Debug Message: Clear data definitions. Debug Message: Killing Galaxy: Completed Debug Message: Desplay_ShipList_Entry_Down.png not cleared 90 counts le

The game manual. Yeah, the manual is installed along with the game as a pdf-file. The default path for the manual is "C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\GalCiv2manual.pdf" I have actually enjoyed reading it a lot while playing - although ALT-tabbing back and forth is a bit of a pai

I absolutely hated the changes in research from Moo1 to Moo2. For the love of Zarquan, please don't include anything like it in GC. My sentiment exactly. Compared to MoO the battles in MoO2 were horrific - actually compared to the first one the sequel was quit bad in most regards. The heroes were a
