Sounds like the Drath are causing the problem. In one of my games I had 8 or 9 races declare war within a couple turns because of them. That's why I always either ally with them or kill them first.
Serenity space battle was good, but too quick to best starwars in my opinion. It was also a little illogical that a group of mindless deseased savages could somehow form an offensive fleet out of space junk that could challenge the established military??
Well, they didn't really challenge the military as a group, just those ships that happened to have gathered at that area. Plus, the military did beat them. In any case, it
Yep, it's the holy grail of space battles, you get to see a fairly well sustained battle sequence with fantastic graphics supported by the Starwars sized budget -instead of the typical quick flashes of battle sequence in most other space battle movie scenes.
I don't know about that, I thought the space battle in Serenity was much better.
I don't think i have seen that one?
Oh man, it is a great movie! On IMDb it's ranked as the 22nd all time best movie, and it's the highest rated comedy on the site.
Another classic moment: In the film Dr. Strangelove: Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb the Army has just retaken the air force base, and Captain Mandrake is having an argument with an Army Officer since Mandrake just realized the recall code for the bombers when he spouts this classic line: Captain Mandrake: "Look Colonel..." (reads the officers name tag) "Bat Guano, if that is your real name..." Another classic line (being spoken in fro
I'm guessing that TotA and their upcoming 'Empires of Magic', or whatever it's going to be called, will probably be updated in similar fashion?
Most likely. However, there will be a free update in a month or so to version 2.0 that I believe you will be able to download without using SDC.
Thye funniest thing i ever saw happen just before a fight... i am not sure what movie, it could have been Indiana Jones or James bond but anyway, the hero fights off all manner of bad guys and then at the end this bad guy comes along with two massive swords and puts on a big spinning blade display to show off how good he is... the hero looks at him, sigs and says "oh stuff it" pulls out a gun and shoots him!
That was in the first Indiana Jones, R
In the film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid Butch is about to have a knife fight for control of the gang, and as he's getting ready he leans over to Sundance: Butch: I don't mean to be a sore loser, but if he wins... kill him. Sundance: Love to. (smiles and waves at the other guy) Butch (to the other guy): No, no, not yet. Not until me and Harvey get the rules straightened out. Other guy: Rules? In a knife fight? There are no rules! (But
My vote's for Gandalf the Grey and Gandalf the White, and Montey Python and the Holy Grail's Black Knight...
Win a metaverse game as each of the races.
Sorry, Feud, you hadn't posted when I was writing my response to Mystik!
No problem, classic case of message board misunderstanding!
Two posts? I never said I agreed with him, all I said is that his comment made me want to watch a movie. Besides, it would be somewhat silly of me to be so excited about the lecture only to then agree with the declaration that it was rubbish.
If Superman was real, he would be bankrupted from getting sued all the time, that is the sad truth of our reality.
That makes me want to watch The Incredibles.
I didn't know where to put this since it doesn't have to do with either PC games or GalCiv but does have to do with science fiction, so I'll put it here. This afternoon I had the chance to attend a lecture by none other then Orson Scott Card. My school had invited him, and he spoke for a little over an hour on various topics, using the first chapter of a upcoming book as his speaking notes (I believe the title is Marriage and Community). I must say, I was quite impressed. H
Yes he fought in the Civil War (50 years after 1812), which is why he began by saying "later on".
Weren't there landslide polls on this already? The majority voted they don't care about multi-player.
Not really. The majority said that they wanted other issues addressed first, not that they didn't care about multiplayer.
but if I'm the Korath or some other race that views themselves as elitists, why would I want an inferior races dirty, stinking money when I am about to eliminate them anyhow. I need not your charity, slaves!
You could accept their bribe, laugh in their face, then attack them anyway. Sort of a "take their lunch money then beat them up" maneuver. But, whatever makes you happy.
I find myself when playing GalCiv doing many things and making many choices that really don't have a marked effect on the game, but for me make it much more fun. For example, destroying my planets that are about to be conquered purely to spite the AI, making ridiculous demands that I know the AI won't accept so that I could have some basis for then declaring war, targeting home planets and then renaming them (even if it isn't the best military choice to seize it in the first place), or
Wile it won't have much effect on the actual game, it is priceless in the metagame. Remember, this is about leading a civilization! While the AI may not technically care about it, think of the glory you have now brought to your empire! You have driven the enemy from their home planet! Personally, once I take an enemy home world I never give it up. Even if the position is untenable I'll destroy the planet before I give it back. While the conquering of the planet may
Nobody sane in his mind would except Stardock to release a patch during the week-end
Well, there was this one guy... [link="https://forums.galciv2.com/?forumid=349&aid=153784"]WWW Link[/link]
This is getting ridiculous.
Your last post was on a Saturday, and today is a Sunday (where Stardock is located at least). Like any company they probably took the weekend off. Cut them some slack, they have families and lives that deserve their attention.
Small workaround: Defleet a group select all ships and set a destination then once they are there refleet. Dunno if it'd work well in wartime though.
The problem with this is if you have ships of different speeds, and if they get attacked along the way by a computer fleet who isn't encumbered by the same problem.

No mods that I am aware of. I would advise that you either avoid winning, or set up the victory conditions so that you can continue the game indefinitely (such as removing everything but conquest victories and then allying with everyone).
