btw, I realize that a lot of IT people are probably on these forums, and it's in their self interest for the subscription model to become the standard...

Everry three years. really? I don't know too many people who upgrade every three years. In most businesses I've worked, I've seen the cycle closer to 5-10 years. Also, if you have an existing copy, you can buy the "upgrade" to a newer version for less than the full price. not to mention alternative such as a vendor on Amazon who is willing to sell older versions of office for less than you can get it directly from MS. So, Microsoft's latest office product is subscription based. The rates seem "reasonable", but I really don't like the subscription model, because, in the long run you end up paying a lot more than if you purchased it outright. similar to a car lease. While others pay off a car in 3-5 years, 10 years down the road, you're still making monthly payments (Yea you trade it in every 3 years for a new model, but the cash outflow never stops.) You never own it, in any
Picked up Cities XL on the midweek Steam sale last week. Very interesting. I like the way I'm not tied to a SimCity grid. I'm a sucker for city builders and I think Cities XL really delivers with the options it has. I do miss the region map because I believe location matters (unskilled workers are not going to commute daily halfway around the world...) but it's a little thing, and for the most part I don't t
I always preferred setting myself goals and limitations in city sims. There's no good reason after all to play the vanilla game if you don't want to. Play it however you prefer. And if you haven't tried them yet, take a look at all the mods that add to its complexity.
Thanks Glazunov1, I'll try the mods. Just wondering. How complex are the underlying mechanics? For example, I bu
So, I was itching for a good city sim and saw this on sale at Steam last week for $10. I didn't start this thread to brag, but is this game too easy? It's just a directed hand holding session. Build a road, city hall and utilities and then just build housing and jobs for skilled and unskilled workers en mass. Rinse and repeat until you get to a 5,000 population, where a few more buildings become unlocked. With $500K to spend, it's almos

I'd like to keep the mechanic the way it is. Disturbing a lair is a potential risk. Ninja looting is the reward for that risk. I once disturbed a banshee lair with expanding borders, and she starting laying waste to my mines and shards. My sovereign stack was on the other side of the map, and none of the defensive units in the city had magical attack abilities.
12:01am on release day is when I expect to see it. Any later is unacceptable. It completely ruins the game for me otherwise. [e digicons][/e]
A few month ago, Brad posted a Google search on "Elemental" to show all the bad press, and said that he was looking forward to moving beyond/closing the Elemental chapter. So LH may be the final version.
Air Elemental does. But it is a bit disappointing to see a lightning dragon just walk across the map.
Well it really doesn't fly. More like it hovers above the ground.
Am I right in assuming that OD doesn't load in safe mode? Which means I'll have to keep some icons on my desktop if I want to be able to access them in safe mode?
Thanks guys!
I have a few programs for which there are no Objectdock icons available, so I would like to create my own. How can I do that? Thanks!
Blizzard may affect a group, but at 8 points of damage (to each enemy), it's still under powered mid game or later. My suggestion is to 1. remove the casting time 2. increase the base damage to 12, plus +2 per water shard and +1 for every other caster level. Blind - if your going to keep the effect at 25%, I think the manna cost should be reduced. I'd rather see it go up to 50% (or more and have the manna cost increased, or the duration limited. I've never seen a magic bow that did more than 9 points of damage.

What's confuses me is why the diplomacy in FE/LH is so lacking, when we all know how good it can be from GC2.

We seem to get quite a few people who compain about tactical combat in FE/LH I really think there needs to be a disclaimer somewhere. "FE/LH is not empire total war"...

This practice isn't unusual. The "ring of Gaxx" was named after Gary Gygax, for example.
