Brad, you've mentioned on several occasions that games represent an insignificant percent of SD revenue. If that's the case, why does it seem that you have a chip on your shoulder regarding them. In a short period of time you've posted twice about GC3.... If making games is the hobby you claim it to be, just make them and be happy. Fwiw, I think GC3 is going in the right direction.

After reading this thread, I decided to give Edge a second look. It seems ok, but as far as I can tell it's not noticeably faster than Chrome, and once I imported bookmarks, getting them to the bar at the top was a hassle. It's not a bad browser, but I see no compelling reason to switch.

Reply to Idea for Fences in Fences

That certainly could work, but IMO, would still have a cluttered look within the main fence. Also, the main fence would take up a lot of desktop real estate. The Object dock took up very little. Also, if you're gong to do fences within a fence idea, you could forgo the main fence and just cluster the multiple fences together into one large square or rectangle. IMHO, one of the best (and underrated) "clean desktop" apps was an object dock with multiple tabs. So instead of having multiple fences for each group of related apps, you had a single dock on the desktop and you could click through tabs to get to the grouping you wanted. If there was some way to integrate that into a Fences option, I think that would be terrific. Now, some people would tell me to just use the Object dock program. But isn't that no longer supported? I thin

Now to cause a large number of people to start foaming from the mouth.... [e digicons][/e] I have used Norton Internet Security (now Norton Security) for about 4 years now. As far as I can tell, it hasn't measurably slowed my PC down. I also use MWB. I have never been infected by any type of virus or malware during that time, that hasn't been stopped dead in it's tracks.

The post seems like an intentional contradiction to prove a point. On one hand you were born lucky, but on the other hand you worked hard for what you've achieved. Based on things you've said in the past on this forum, I'm waiting for the "gotcha" when you post again...

These type of "two tiered" laws aren't isolated to CA. In my state, the death penalty is off the table, except for those who shoot politicians, police, and other government officials.

The focus of my post wasn't about price, but about completeness. (In terms of bug fixes and other issues mentioned by the OP). Typically by the time a product goes gold, most of the bugs have been ironed out. And if a person can't wait for gold, they should at least pick up an "unfinished" game for as little as possible. I also take issue with the Civ V-itisation of games. Long term immersion and engagement is what I personally value. I r

With the "steam model" developers (not just Stardock) really don't put the time and effort into games that they used to. Anyone remember game manuals? Or even the tech tree maps? No?, I didn't think so.... Heck, I even remember a thread posted by Brad where he was contemplating whether or not to follow the DLC model. It's a different time and a different market, and the focus is to crank out as much salable content as possible (DLC's, expansions, expand

I'm a casual gamer. I can say from person experience that 8 gigs is enough for games like GC III, Civ V, Endless Legends, etc. I do however also have a 6th generation i7 cpu, and a 4gig dedicated graphics card.

The doomsday clock is gone, but there still is a turn limit built into the game. How many turns does it take the SK to ascend on normal difficulty? (assuming no player interference) If the player chooses to ascend, the SK will go after the player of course, but... Does the SK play by the same rules as the player? (game mechanics), or will he be able to churn out endless waves of mooks each turn? (like a 1980's arcade game)

So, the new winning condition of the game is ascension? Are there any other win conditions? Will there be an way to see how much the the SC has progressed? How about the rivals, I assume they are racing toward ascension as well? Just a thought. If the players and AI rivals are racing to finish ascension before the SC (and each other), then, there is in effect, a doomsday clock... It just seems like SK in reverse. Instead of going to the SK

The "what" of my job can, and for the most part has been replaced by a computer. However, it will require a Commander Data level AI to replace the "why" part... I agree that certain jobs can and are being replaced fairly easily (factory/warehouse), but there is a big obstacle in the way in other industries. Upfront capital expenditure. Not every company is going to risk implementing AI, especially in jobs that require specialized education and training. Large companies
