I just visited a forum where a woman was complaining that it was difficult for her to make ends meet. Then in the very next sentence, she started gushing on about her new expensive smart phone… I found her cognitive disconnect to be disturbing. I just couldn’t believe that she was serious. [faceplam] I was going to state the obvious…”Maybe if you didn’t buy a smart phone, and sign up for an expensive contract, you might find it easier to make en
What are you talking about? Until the 1930s, the country worked as originally intended via enumerated powers. Tax dollars weren't given to someone else simply because they had a pulse. Tax dollars were spent on things explicitly enumerated by the constitution. It's not that complicated to make the distinction between whether money is going for a service or whether money is just being redistributed.

But I would say that if you live outside a city, a car is a necessity. Sure. But where do you want to draw the line? I think the Windows Start button is a necessity. The government should subsidize (i.e. give money to people) to buy Sta

The gov't takes money away from people (taxes) and uses it for all sorts of things. The problem is do-gooderism never runs out of uses for other people's money. That's Brad's whole point. The solutions to these problems ALWAYS revolve around taking money from people and using it for all
And someone suggested that if society decides it needs electric cars then the government should take money from people and redistribute it so we can have it. Now we have people who don't think that's communism. Maybe they're right. Maybe it's just a little bit of communism? I mean, what's the big deal? Just a car. In fact, maybe we should just make the cars free. After all, we need them and it'
Quoting Borg999, reply 546 It's a catch 22. Without sufficient volume, prices (upfront cost) can't be reduced, but demand for electric cars won't increase until the price goes down. So, if we believe as a society that electric cars are necessary, then the production and/or purchase price of electric cars should be subsidized in some way by the gov't. And if we don't, then we won't.<b

Are you suggesting that gas stations around the country sprang up due to the government? The reason electric cars aren't that popular yet is because there is a hefty up front cost involved.
Quoting Borg999, reply 494 It actually is the egg. In other words, people will buy electric (which are not CO2 friendly considering the power source) when they become price competitive. So entrepreneurs will not build charging stations because it is not cost effective. It all comes down to cost. You do not see whale oil filling stations, yet we moved off of whale oil onto petroleum.&nb

As far as alternative fuel technologies are concerned. We seem to be locked into a chicken or the egg loop. For example, people won’t buy electric cars until there are enough “fueling” stations available. But without sufficient demand for electric cars, very few entrepreneurs are willing to open fueling stations. Same issue with the cost of electric cars… A large number of people won’t buy electric cars until the price goes down and the mileage on a single charg

I was asking that XP be removed from the end amount for each tamed creature....tamed. This would not make Beast Lord even more OP. This would help balance as your heroes would level slower and you would need to rely on beasts more.

Not sure how I feel about animal intellence creatures being able to cast summon spells. Glad to see weapon damage getting buffed, not nerfed! Oh well, the world has gotten a lot more dangerous. I designed it from the in-game design new unit function (I didn't build it directly from xml) As far as I'm aware, a weapons upgrade path, should be independent of basic unit design.

If you cast inelectable vison in the late game you'll see a large swarm of red dots on the map around the AI, which pretty much proves that the AI factions don't attack monsters, and more than likely, the monsters don't attack the AI. (Otherwise they wouldn't have many cities left, if they did)

Thanks everyone for your help!. I adjusted the opacity in the Explorer background for one of the styles and that worked. It was my fault for not looking more closely in the background tab...as I though that section was strictly used to change the desktop image. LightStar, to answer your question. Most of the styles I've downloaded have the Windows explorer background set as transparent. I would like to change them to solid. I've tried to alter transparency in the colors section, but that has no effect on Windows explorer. I'm trying out the 30 day trial version. According to the ad for WB, you should be able to customize ever aspect of the desktop. For example it says if you select a theme but don't like the color, you can change it, but as far as I can tell, the theme colors are fixed. Also, I found the option to change the transparency and texture of the task bar, but not the color. Does the trial version have features disabled? Is there a help file avail

I have another thought about the loot pack (and DLCs in general) In addition to more content... First and foremost, a DLC that people pay for shouldn't never contain detrimental items (e.g. cursed items) Second, a DLC should "reward" people who chose to buy it with a significant in-game advantage over those who didn't buy it. IMO, this DLC didn't achieve that. My additonal 2 cents... Now I'm up to 4 cents. [e digicons][/e] </p
