Definitely the easiest possible setting. I'm not well experienced in this specific type of game (just Civ type games) and there's a lot of information to take on board. Once I pull a couple of victories on the easiest, I will move up to whatever the next is called. I doubt I will ever go up past Normal (intelligent) as I tend to find with most games that I can scrape wins on the harder difficulties but gain a lot less pleasure due to excess stress! <img src="smiles/Laugh.gif" border=0 ALIGN="a

Having spent a few days reading around the issue of Starforce now, I can tell you that Stardock is getting some excellent press and is being set up as the Light side compared to the Dark of Starforce. I have read many people that have never heard of Stardock or any of its products now really interested in what the company is doing and fully intending to support it through purchasing the software. I have rarely, if ever, felt respect for a games developer publisher beyond the quality o
The idea that 2 races have the same share base hulls is implying they share the same military suppier. This isn't realistic. You know, we are talking about purely fantasy races, with purely fantasy ships doing purely fantasy things..... realism doesn't seem to top the list of priorities if you ask me. How do you know that they dont share the sa
Just a quick side-question - I saw your name here the other day Midnightsun.... not from VoM Dragonblight are you?
Make the legal way the most convenient way to get a product. Offer benefits to your customes I couldnt agree more and have been saying the same thing for years. Why penalize the very people you know HAVE bought the CD. Instead, use updates to reward those who have paid for the software. Companies do act strangely in this area in my o
Interesting fact: many scientists believe that the reason Neanderthals fell to Homo Sapiens so quickly is linked to the fact that Neanderthals appear to have had little or no sense of deceit. They possibly saw things only as they were, with almost no concept of 'what could be' or 'what is not,' much like people affected by autism. This could be why we've yet to find signif
Then why don't you add multiplayer in and delay the game by a month to make it the best 4X turn-based game ever? Because that would satisfy the 3 very loud proponents of MP and deeply upset the other 99.99% of fans who want it now and don't care about MP.... that's why not!
In an infinite universe, there are infinite possibilities for evolution.
I tried the demo of SE4 and found it to be one of the driest, 'unfun' games I have ever experienced. If 5 is anything like it, I wont be going near it! For a game in the same vein, I would suggest the X series. X2 was a lot of fun, letting you dip into combat, run stations, set up trading empires. Unfortunately, even though I bought the new X game, I can't play it due to their stupid disk protection!!
Years and years of total rebellion in a captured city? Seems a bit overdone to me. It's just a system that emulates the difficulty in conquering foreign/alien races and subduing them. It seems like it would address some of the above concerns of wiping out millions of people in one invasion. Don't get me wrong, I am not an advocate of realism...
Since when is the taking of cities complex in Civ games? I think that Grahamofboro meant *after* the city had been taken. In Civ games you have to deal with the newly captured populace of the city. They still have allegiance to their former nation for some time. This can lead to riots or "flipping" back to the previous owners. It can mean very
For difficulty setting, I think I will start on the absolute lowest just for the first game. I am sure that it is pretty worthless to play on the lowest setting in terms of learning any strategy.... but just to work out the interface and basic concepts! I would imagine that those who have played through the beta must have some good knowledge to pass on to us noobs. I always love reading a good guide written by players, I was hoping someone might have already had one in mind just so I
Any of the beta testers feel up to writing a newbie guide? I have only played the demo of GalCiv 1 so I am pretty clueless. If not now, anyone likely to get a guide up within the first few days of release?
As long as it's not peer servers, like Blizzard's awful patch system.... it should be fine! Powers-That-Be......How many servers will be made available for DownloadDay? Living in Thailand is highly problematic for d/ling anything from the rest of the world... so slow even though I have an adsl connection!
Italian langiage is full of tricky grammar rules (compared to English)... Hell yes! I think you could have changed the ending of that to (compared to most languages) !!
If I´m not wrong, there was an post about this theme a while ago. Just check the forum .... also made by BlizzardGR!!! Hey BlizzardGR, you really want these things huh? It's almost like you have shares in them! <img src="smiles/Yum.gif" border=0 ALIGN="ab
I think it's only 3 weeks or so until release. I'm sure the anticipation wont kill you!
Ok, I admit to not having played the game so I am just going off what's said above..... but it sounds like a "snap to" function might be better to get the components to attach rather than having them go transparent. Then, dragging the component across to the Hull, the item tries to snap to hardpoints, leaving you to just move the mouse about then click when satisfied. Am I missing something here?
Damn.... that 45 dollars sure goes around huh? Right, following that, I have re-ordered the game and I now have an order ID number. I just had to leave my mailing address as my parents address in the UK..... the address of my credit card! You dont cater for us international jetsetters do you? Just kidding, I should have worked it out much earlier!! Thanks f
To get back to my topic..... *grabs topic rug from under Solarion's feet* ..... I didn't get an order id either!
Could you describe the kind of tutorials that would have helped you for GC I ? For me, it doesn't need to be simplistic... none of that, Move your mouse to the edge of the screen business. I would like to have tutorials on: how to effectively build my trade network, how to design ships, how to balance my economy. etc Mini
That was really the point of the post. If I had received a valid serial ID after ordering it with my credit card, I wouldn't have bothered making a post about it! What happened was that the order seemed to go through and I received no confirmation, serial code etc etc.
Hmmm, I dont see how... I don't have anything to register? I'll just be patient and wait for the vacationer. I am assuming that my credit card was not charged and no order was actually placed. I hope I will still be entitled to get the pre-order bonus material ( Additional ship components, the Galactic Civilizations Desktop and more.)?
Rofl..... dont spend it all at once ya hear?
First of all, sorry if this is not really the place for it, but I am looking for a little help from a Stardockian. I tried to pre-order an electronic download of Galactic Civilizations II but had an error because of my credit card address (I automatically put my address in Thailand when the card is from the UK). So I redid the form with the correct address but then it brought up another error. Anyway, I have now sent 2 emails to sales@stardock but havent received any reply.
