No way im doing what the missus suggested and painting the spare room! Earn karmic credits! Paint that room... paint it GOOD! Then next time your misses wants you to do something you can say: Sorry honey, I need to sit down and play this game now - I really wanted to on Tuesday but I was busy painting the spare room for you!!! <img src="http:

It would actually seem really wierd to me if they suddenly changed! I am sure that it would take a fair amount of time for a species to evolve into an "evil" version. If they just upped and evolved when they changed government, I would find that much more unrealistic. Also, all that is gold does not glitter. An Evil looking race that acts nicely just points out human conception of what evil and good look like! As Bingjack said, there's also the "They All Look The Same To Me" factor to

Yep, that midday EST thing is pretty harsh for me too. My time zone is GMT+7..... I will be fast asleep by the time they put up the last few files. I wont be able to play until Wednesday afternoon! Well, I booked the time off with my GF so she wont hang, draw and quarter me anyway!! <img src="http://images.

You can use the underground (subway) system now in Athens! Pretty plush! I was there a couple of years ago and I love Athens - I could have stayed there much longer but I needed a beach, so I went and stayed on Amorgos for 6 weeks! I personally claim The Most Exotic Location award! As for tempe

Even if the electronic download is considerably more expensive, I think it is well worth it to support an indie developer! More than that, Stardock have a really great attitude towards their customers and deserve to be successful..... selfishly, if they are successful, we may see more developers open up like this. Other than that, I live in Thailand so electronic download really is my best option! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Wink.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmidd

From what I have read, most, if not all non Terran races start with Stellar Cartography. This means that they know where planets are but they still need to explore them to find out their PQ. Terrans don't start with Stellar Cart. As for exploring.... everyone has to explore the map, as in clear the fog of war.

As a fan of more fantasy based games, literature etc.... I am not exactly familiar with the standard naming conventions for Hull sizes for spacecraft although I am fairly certain they mostly follow ships. Can anyone supply a little more information. Currently I am thinking that these are approximately the right types to fit with GC2. CLASS (Hull size) Fighter (Tiny) Corvette (Tiny) Frigate (Small) Destroyer (Medium) Cruiser (Large) Battle

StarForce are the Dark Side! StarForce's policy on copy protection is - If you are having problems with our copy protection, you must be a pirate! Even though its blatantly obvious that only those with the original game would have trouble with the copy protection and that StarForce protected games are cracked within 10 days of release. Join the StarForce boycott! http://www.glop.org/starforce/

As for the poll, I'm not surprised at the number of votes against as it was started by Derekroth who is vehemently against tactical. I'm sure he notified all his similarly minded buddies to chime in and skew the results from a normal distribution. I didn't notice this before, but that's absurd! Probably 90% of the people who responded to that p

I archived the game, multimedia and videos. They went into the Backup folder inside the Stardock directory. I then zipped them up, burned them to cd and deleted them from the Backup folder. Problem is, I realised afterwards, that I dont have the full game yet so if I need to use that backup later, I will have to go through updates!

Only problem would be making the ships actually look Borg-ish. That could be a wee bit difficult unless somebody did some custom models and skins. They would also look quite boring.... can you imagine ship designing these things.... Hmm... should I choose the cuboid hull..... or the cuboid hull? <img src="smiles/Laugh.gif" b

3. Thinking that tactical combat is inherently flawed is inherently flawed thinking. I beg to differ. I am basing my comment on empirical observation of all games I have played with a Tactical component - that is to say: Games which are not a *purely* tactical game. This is a wider strategy game where the focus is on empire management - as some

Aside from requiring a completely new engine, controls..... hell, effectively a totally new game just to implement this... I'd say that this has absolutely no part to play in this game. Get X2 / X3 / Freelancer for something like that.

Copy files over to the required place on the computer. Go to Start > Run > Regedit Look for tab - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Stardock Drengin.net Galciv2 Click the last one. On the right side of the screen there will be a series of icons. Double click the Path one. Change that to the location you moved the files to. i.e. C:\Games\GalCiv2 All done.

I personally think it has nothing to do with resources. If Tactical Combat was a goal, resources would be made for it. What the proponents of Tactical seem to keep skipping over is the fact that: 1) Human players will learn how to always win at Tactical combat or at the very least greatly enhance their ability over the AI. 2) As you will always have a much better chance to win by playing through Tactical, you will always use Tactical. 3) This refocuses the game

I know the team is really jazzed that people are excited to play the game! I'm really not exactly sure what that means..... but if jazzed is a good thing... they deserve to be!! Watching the Stardock team's excited and thoroughly transparent write-ups on the games' developme
