It's not coming back from it, it's entering it, and only under Vista. XP doesn't seem to have this issue. Also, it's not something that happens every time, but something that's appeared since WB6 and wasn't happening with WB5.5 or no WB loaded.
JRSCCivic98
It appears your disappointment will be longlasting if not permanent. Time to deal with it & move on. Kinda like the programmer's inability to get past this one little hurdle in the skinning process. What's funny is I remember the devs saying that once WB was made specifically for Vista because it would use the same skinning techniques that MS uses in Aero that the CMD prompt would be skinned again. I guess not. Lame!
JRSCCivic98: Why do you have a 5.0 and a 5.5 serial? If you purchased WB before 1st Feb 2007 then you would not get a free upgrade and having a WB 5.0 serial suggests you purchased WB a long time ago. Yeah, I rechecked and it was for 5.0. This thread threw me off for a sec because it made it seem like the upgrade was free regardless of date purchase. Anyhoo, I up'ed with 15. Now to just get the bugs worked out.....
Guess you must be on Vista. Don't let the title of the thread give it away. And I have no hibernate or suspend problems with Aero or WB5.5 skinning. Started just with WB6.
Anyone else running into the inability to enter Suspend or Hibernate about 90% of the time with WB6 skinning the system. I've been able to be trouble free with 10 consecutive Hibernates with Aero skinning, but when I switch to enable a WB6 skin (not skin dependant btw) it will fail on Hybernate (lockup). I did another 5 shutdowns and it failed 4 times of the 5. Disabling WB6 and it's back to normal.
Why is this such a serious shortcoming JRSCCivic98? Does it affect WB functionality or cause system problems? I bet it doesn't. Because it takes away a capability that Vista HAS natively. This is the one thing I was hoping 6 would have BACK in it.
^^^ I think it's a SERIOUS shortcoming. Especially for Vista users because Aero can skin it just fine. Bad move on your part with the decision to NOT find a solution to this. I may keep harping on it, but it's anoying to constantly find bugs and shortcoming on releases that you guys supposedly tested on countless systems before release. I will give you props on the release going smoothly through SDC for a change... the last few releases of something through SDC had a few hickups due to messe
When I requested the upgrade serial I didn't get anything either, so I just made the upgrade purchase. Bad part is I think I might have used my WB5.0 instead of my WB5.5 serial to ask for the upgrade to WB6. Did I needlessly pay 15 for something that should have been free?
I'd like my Vista Ultimate to show my CMD prompt skinned with WB6 loaded and skinning. Aero can do it, you'd think WB6 could. What's the excuse now guys? Last time under XP it was that the OS didn't natively do it and you removed it under 5.x because you wanted to do transparancy or some junk. Well, Vista CAN do it natively... what's the freaking problem with WB's abilities? You guys can get upset about my posts all you want, but I think I have a very valid complaint here. It was a
Just wanted to update this... This was fixed in CAT 7.6.
Just what the title states. This was the case with a PC that has an ATI 9600XT card in it. It worked fine in 7.4, upgraded to 7.5, now both apps will not play anything on the background. More of an FYI then anything else.
Type Window Blinds in Search. Or in Run .. See if that brings it up. Hahaha... type Window Blinds in Run....
maybe that's just a vista thing... I uninstalled SDC / rebooted / installed a new one / rebooted / everything showed up, WB uninstalled fine. Maybe, I dunno. I haven't gotten a chance to test it under XP yet, but will just to check. I've rechecked this on Vista on two systems and they both behaved the same way. Also, what's up with all the people on here that keep posting that think "I" have an issue with my ability to install or uninstall WB
OK, since everyone is so smart here. I've got one for you since I felt like testing things out a little. On Vista, if you install SDC and then install WB via SDC you obviously don't get an uninstall under add/remove in Control Panel. We're all clear on that. Here's the clincher.... if you then uninstall SDC you're left without a way to uninstall WB at that point. Not only that, but if you reinstall SDC and you still can't uninstall WB. You have to rerun the install for WB out of SDC at lea
Or for crying out loud. Go to start Click on Control Panel Click on Programs Click on Uninstall Programs Click on WB's and click uninstall Thats all their is too it. Install it via SDC and then go to add/remove programs. See if it's listed..... yeah, you want me to put salt on your foot before you stick it in your mouth?
If you install via SDC you uninstall via SDC. If you install via a standalone installer than you uninstall via the add/remove programs which has the standalone uninstaller. There should be uninstall information in Add/Remove regardless of what you use to install it. It just makes more sense that way. Also, I lost count on how many times I've uninstalled WB from a system and it leaves stuff behind, but then again so does every other program known to ma
How about you guys just write an uninstall to go with it? Either that or plaster a link all over the Windowblinds site with an uninstall app for it. Not everyone uses SDC to install and uninstall your apps, especially since you can easily buy Windowsblinds as a standalone. It needs to have it's own uninstall (complete) bundled with it. Come on guys, stop putting blinders on when you write these programs. p.s. All else fails, you can use the Microsoft Installer Cleaner tool to ge
Yep, all these programs are written by the same company. They need to standardize on the location of the install ACROSS THE BOARD. It would just make things so much more organized.
Stardock guys, can we get some standardized install locations on DeskScapes? What I mean by this is in Vista on the Start Menu DeskScapes installs in a folder structure of All Programs/Startdock/Object Desktop/Desk Scapes(the program icon). The big nasty look is when you also have WB5.5 installed with by default puts itself under All Programs/Object Desktop/Windowblinds(the program icon). Don't you think this is a little "unorganized" looking? I suggest you drop everything in subfolder of St
I believe Stardock only releases the full versions (e.g: 1 or 1.1) for free, the Beta-versions are for ObjectDesktop subscribers only. as kind of a "preview".... You know, that makes the MOST sense so far from anyone's post in this thread. I didn't even think about that simply because I alwasy expect to see "b" after the version number indicating a beta. This must be it... sure would have been nice to keep version numbering standards consit
DeskScapes is free but Desktop Earth isn't, it's for subscribers only. Make sure you don't have the sub folder selected as that contains Desktop Earth. Yeah, I know about Earth Desktop... this was just for DeskScapes, but honestly I didn't check to see if there was a + next to it. Could have been and I just didn't catch it, but generally speaking SDC doesn't autocheck subfolders on updates, just the initial product. Case in point, with WB it only updat
Civic, are you an ObjectDesktop subscriber? Why would that have any relevance to a free product on SDC? If you can download the product in exe standalone form from the dream website SDC should be able to download the free updates as well. That doesn't make any sense.
I'm old enough to know about Daiwa audio equipment, even had a Daiwa reel-to-reel at one time. That's just not where my handle comes from. Cheers. Works for me... as long as I'm not alone in knowing that fact. Hmmm, fishing tackle then? He already said Golf Equipment.
Yeah, I know it's the wrong forum, but there's no DeskScapes forum. Anyway, why is it that SDC reports a new version of DeskScapes in Vista, but you can't update it via SDC because it asks for a registration code? DeskScapes is supposed to be FREE. What is the deal with that? SDC reports current installed version as 1.01(which came from the DeskScapes website) and a new version of 1.01.xxx(I forget exactly the number, but SD should know the answer anyway.) Is this a bug with SDC?
