Well, they've posted a 'fix' for the issue, and my system hack seems to be holding anyway. That makes them marginally better than Microsoft who clearly does not give a damn about environmental waste management. In any other industry that wasn't an effective monopoly they would be commercially screwed for doing what they did.
Thanks, Basj ... that'll keep me out of trouble..;)
Yes, I'm still running Fences 3 on my primary machine simply because I'm still running Win 7. I know there's a login/security update for Fences 3 and I get the notification of an update available...but nothing happens. [allegedly it's 14.1meg]. Same applies to the cloned Win 7 OS I run in a VM, same notification - same no result. I don't really 'need' the update but I would like not to be notified of this one [or any others, for that matter]. It's so nice n

March, 2001. Wincustomize.com went live. This week marks One Quarter Of A Century that Stardock has hosted the longest-lasting Community-oriented skinning site and related Forums. I remember getting the message while on Skinz.org to log into Wincustomize and create an account, so I did. The first 20 User IDs were res

Not sure about compatibility with Windows 7 though. You could also try deleting Adobe Creative Cloud, but it requires a special cleaning tool which is available from Adobe, but they make it very difficult to find. You could also change the settings in your router to disable Adobe Reader’s access to th
Microsoft no longer supports its all-time most popular OS. We get that. It also FORCES people to purchase new hardware that is compatible with its new adware [OS]. Around about the 19th of Feb [last week] Adobe Acrobat Reader auto updated... To a version that is broken in Windows 7. People are reliant on "legacy" OS systems { I use the word 'legacy' with sarcasm], often in critical and time-sensitive situations. And good old Adobe auto-upd

1xHacker , what you describe as 'bugs' or 'flaws' in Windowblinds are commonly limitations imposed by Microsoft Windows hard-coding and/or functionality deemed unnecessary or unable to be safely applied over multiple variations of computer systems. Windowblinds is not a new program that perhaps has overlooked potential 'features'. It is more than a quarter of a century old. I think I still have version 0.3 here somewhere designed for Windows 98. Win

[/quote] Nah, they're not 'precious' anymore as all of them have been built. The issue is they won't last forever anyway as they are actual tracing paper which is heat and moisture sensitive. It was 42c today which is what prompted the rethink. That one above is 40 years old, and I actu
This is an example of an easier way to keep a record....1.3meg, no paper cuts ...;)
As some might know, I was 'class of 72' at RMIT Architecture and had actual drawings [not CAD] that dated from then all the way through to the last which was in 2018 [OK, so 46 years]. Managed to move plan drawers a few times, even after actually 'retiring'. Every time I thought "these are a record of a heck of a lot of blood, sweat and tears' I couldn't see myself parting with them as scrap-paper-in-the-recycle-bin. Then I had an idea..."digitize" them. Yes, not such a silly complaint. I too prefer it as its original function was. No bells and whistles. Unfortunately [or fortunately] Fences has been very popular so many have wanted more and more added it to it so the Devs have provided. I wonder if there shouldn't be a 'Fences Lite' that just corrals desktop icons, and does nothing else. I know my main machine is running Fences 3, just to group icons logically and avail myself of hiding alternatives...
[quote]Aren't we all surprised by an update on this old version many are still running? [/quote] It's because many are still running it that it will still get updates from time to time. I myself am running Fences 3 on my primary computer simply because it is still running Windows 7 ...;)

OK...just refreshed WC and it shows what's on Stardock but this is hours later.
Forums from Wincustomize.com are not updating...isn't even showing my previous.
Nope...looks like posting from Wincustomize.com doesn't work.
Merry Christmas, everyone who celebrates the occasion. Have a happy and safe Holiday [for those who get one]. And a happy New Year [that should apply to most using the same calendar] ....;)
