If you are getting just the symbols on the map, go to Options, click on the "Interface" tab, and change your "Tactical View Zoom Level" option to 25. This option sets the level at which the graphics change from 3d to 2d. It sounds like this is too low. You could also try deleting your prefs.ini file in My Documents\My Games\Galciv2 folder. This will reset all of your options to their default values. For the problem you are experiencing with the version 1.1 update, pl

These options are not stored in the registry, but rather in your prefs.ini file. This file can be found in your My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2 folder. Close GC2 if it is running, then delete this file. All of your options will go back to their defaults the next time you start up the game. If your ships are still missing, please post your debug.err file. (Located in c:\program files\stardock\totalgaming\galciv2 folder ) This wil

Please send your saved games in a zip file to gc2bugs@stardock.com. If they reproduce the lockup, we will be able to use them to find the problem. Thank you.

Thank you for getting SmartException. If you also have a saved game which can reproduce the crash, please send that along with your SmartException files. Thank you.

If you have not updated already, please update to the latest version. If that does not fix your problem, please post your debug.err file (located in your galciv2 program folder: C:\program files\stardock\totalgaming\galciv2 ) Thank you.

If you have uninstalled and reinstalled recently the list may be empty. You don't have to configure the program to catch galciv2. All you need to do is install it and let it run while galciv2 is running. Next time you get a crash, just click the Don't Send (or OK or Close) button and then check SmartException to see if anything has been added to that list. Please let us know what it catches ( or if it doesn't catch it ). Thank

Does it still crash if you load and do not invert the fights? If so, please send your saved game and instructions on how to reproduce the crash to gc2bugs@stardock.com. Thank you.

When you right-click on the SmartException icon in the system tray, and choose Configure from the list it opens up a window. In the "Exceptions" tab, there is a list of crashes that have been recorded by Smart Exception. Do you see anything in this list? If so, select the one that says "GALCIV2.EXE" and click on the "Email selected exception." This will create a zip file that you can then email to gc2bugs@stardock.com.<br/

What version of the game are you using? I am not able to reproduce this with the latest beta 1.1 version.

Please update your drivers and operating system. Then try and uninstall and reinstall just to make sure all the files go where they need to go. A note about the folders: C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2 is where developer-created game content is. My Documents\My Games\Galciv2 is where player-created content is.

I have not seen a problem with obsoleted core ships not appearing in new games. Are you using the most recent version? Can you post your debug.err file please?

In the version 1.1 betas, you can click on enemy ships (if you have low espionage level) and you will see a dotted line to where they are going. You can always click your own ships to see a line to where they are going. Here's a tip: What's even more fun is using CTRL+drag to highlight multiple ships, and see where they are all going at once. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Smile.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmid

When you COLONIZE a planet, that planet will be enhanced using your planet quality bonus. If you lose that planet or trade it, it will remain at its enhanced quality until the other player does something to enhance it even more (like soil enhancement), or you could take it back first

This bug has been addressed and the new version 1.1 will no longer have this problem. You will most likely need to start a new game after upgrading to see the effects of this fix.
