I think the main problem is that people just look at OB 2.0 and wonder what actually is new? Object 1.65 bars and skins work just fine. And I think people look at the fact that they can put in DesktopX stuff into object bar and go 'meh'. I haven't found any that I would like embedded in the bar. The only think I would want is something that can read bookmarks in firefox/opera/ie format so you can have it work with your favorite browser. However I don't have the time to look at how to script

I think he means in the ObjectBar realm I first posted the "What's Going On" thread on Dec. 19th 2005, which this current version of Object Bar had already been around for a bit. Brad posted about needing to keep us more informed on March 17th, and since then...nothing. Nothing doesn't mean bad, it could mean that they actually listened to us in our complaints about the object bar editor, a
The Good ------------- Autohid bars are snappy in poping up, though they can sometimes get stuck behind other apps (like visual studio). Loading large folders in a popup bar seems to have been sped up. In general object bar seems to have shaken it's speed problems (for today at least). No longer crashes when double clicking on the MyDocuments link on a bar You fixed the send to problem on the system menu, woot!
Its been a while since we've heard any updates about this. Anyone want to tell us what's going on? When I saw the message for my ObjectDesktop renewal notice come up, I realized that at this point last year, I renewed it for a new and improved Object Bar 2.0 coming soon..... I don't mind that it takes time, but I would like to see some more progress. Especially if I'm going to throw down some more $$$.
When launching a folder from a sub-bar (with "Show as menu" turned off), the sub-bar will now stick around after the mouse click. I have example screenshots here http://www.faier.net/scott/ShowSelection.gif -> shows the sub-bar http://www.faier.net/scott/BarLeftBehind.gif -> shows the results of selecting a folder from the sub-bar. -Scott MacDonald
I recently had cause to create a new popup bar that came up from my side bar, and I was concerned about what a pain in the ass it was. I first just did a new bar (i.e. the old way) and when the bar was on the screen I dragged the file links I was interested in to it. But when I then added a new popup-item, there was no option to link to that newly created bar! OK, so I deleted that bar, and started working with the new popup-
Its been a while since the last beta release of object bar, and I was curious on the progress. My birthday is in a couple days, it would be a great gift to have a new beta out by then -Scott MacDonald
The sizing settings no longer apply to the new object bar, sizing is pretty much handled for you. Stardock is right and wrong on this. The old way of doing pixel values was not very scaleable to different resolutions. Also by doing it all automatically and having that 'extra space' value there to push things to the side/bottom will cover a lot of the happy path object bars, and make it easier for people to set them up. However, it does put l
Trayserver does have that problem from time to time, what I've found mostly works, is after boot-up, quit object bar and relaunch it. On a wierd note, once you get everything, you won't have to do that again for a long while, at least, I didn't. The easiest way to fix this is to move to the next beta, some people have problems with the editor interface, but it is pretty stable now, and the system tray seems to work fine.
You have to add a multi-function item to your bar, and then under its properties select an object bar command. Advanced Theme Editor should be in there.
Mostly because the upgrade isn't finished yet. I am planning on updating my Developer bar, but I'm waiting to see what else gets put in there. I'm also looking at doing a plugin, so you can have your firefox bookmarks showup in a popup. Actually the current version of Developer would work with the tronnix theme, simply change the skin of the bar to use the windowblinds skin instead of what is packaged <img src="http://images.stardock.com/J
Again, this is based on my Developer theme on wincustomize. The good: 1)The working directory problem seems to be fixed. Though the first time I ran my test it used c:\winnt\system32 for some reason. Every other time after that its been working flawlessly though, so who cares 2) Resizing the bar (i.e. changing the width on a left docked bar) w
Yes it does, http://webpages.charter.net/samus42/Desktop-IconsSubmenus.jpg On any item, go to properties, on the General tab is a change image button. Unless I'm misunderstanding what your concern is. -Scott
As for #6, I didn't mean Close as in closing the bar, I meant closing the properties dialog by hitting the X or OK button. And for #21, once the folder is loaded, it stays loaded, so I think it's icons as well -Scott
This seems to be the new place for feedback, I'd start a new thread like my Version 1.99b[b] feedback thread and post your comments there.
After doing some experimentation, I found that the problem seems to be occuring in bars that start with auto-hide on. If you turn auto-hide off, then go to the menu editor and go to the skin tab, by changing the skin to something else and back, you can get your skin back. After that, you can turn auto-hide on again, and things should be ok for a bit. I have found that after a bit, the white background problem will come back. But i haven't figured o
OK, played around with the different options for a couple of hours for version 1.99b[b] that was posted today (4/7/2005), and here are my notes. As usual, if you need my bar files, or more screenshots, let me know. 1) Still is making bar's background white for Developer object bar theme Though you're currently highlighted task list item will sometimes get its image back. Also, submenus will have the skin correctly. https://ww
I was wondering if there was some sort of roadmap for object bar 2.0? I've submitted feedback on bugs and how I think it should look and feel, but what should I be looking for in testing the new features that you're adding? We've seen some pictures in the preview, but no real statement of where you want to go, and what we should be able to do with this next version. I think it would really help feedback if we knew more of what we are supposed to be
