problems with latest OB

i just renewed my subscription to object desktop for a second year. by far, my favorite program is object bar. however when i downloaded the newest version (ver 2 build 731) i ran into alot of problems. none of my bars seem to remember the "sizing and positioning" settings or the "advanced" settings. specifically the minimum and maximum size settings and the "limit bar's size to its contents" option. every time i start OB, the sizes i specified are gone and the "limit bar..." checkbox is cleared. any ideas? also all of my bars have a container called "extra space" that i didn't put there and it comes back every time i delete it. btw, i've used OB for the past year along with OD and WB and i absolutely love these programs. they not only look great, they also make windows easier to work with.

The sizing settings no longer apply to the new object bar, sizing is pretty much handled for you. Stardock is right and wrong on this. The old way of doing pixel values was not very scaleable to different resolutions. Also by doing it all automatically and having that 'extra space' value there to push things to the side/bottom will cover a lot of the happy path object bars, and make it easier for people to set them up.

However, it does put limits on us creators on how we like to do our spacing and what not. They should really build in the concept of a layout manager to a bar, or go with sizing & positioning via percentages or something like that. They'll probably end up with it at some point in time, but this seems to be the step they're taking now.

You can get more details on how the sizing stuff has been changed by looking at the developer's comments in previous posts.

I see the point of it, but the extra space item should be optional. Also, the only way I've found to get into the 'old' UI is to create a button that opens it. A little odd.

The program's really coming along though The new UI is simple and easy enough to manage for most operations. Lubbit.

thanks for the info. its odd that they still include the sizing option if it doesn't do anything.
