Dock background appears on top of dock icons

Perhaps another bug related to dual monitor usage.
I disconnect my external monitor a few times a day as I move to and from work with my laptop, and often find that when I reconnect the docks are redrawn with the dock background on top of the icons! If I click an icon to load the program, or switch to the program, it is redrawn correctly on top.
Behold:

Also if I change the position of the dock then it gets redrawn correctly.
A quick way to repeat this bug is to change the orientation of the 2 monitors - ie. swapping monitor 1 to be on the left of monitor 2 instead of the right.
Anyone else see similar behaviour? Any hints?
