1. Some sort of temp-box for favorites...url shortcuts, that can be rolled up when not in use. Right now all my permanent favorites are in folders, all my high frequency favorites are on the links bar and all my temporary or ones that I need to sort through are just on the favorites menu. I'd like to be able to have the menu cleaner and have a widget that intercepts me adding a favorite, unless it is going in a folder and make it configureable to how many days to keep it as a temporary favorite until it expires like the history sidebar does, at that point the widget would delete it.

2. An address book that works independent of my email proggy, but with a click of a button can add an address to an email I'm writing. Also have it hold personal/business info and allow it to share info with a calendar widget for appointments, birthdays, anniversaries, etc.

3. A logger that keeps track how long I have various programs running and at what time of day, to be able to display it as a chart, by day, by week, by month, by year. I know, it sounds like spyware

1. A widget that utilizes some translation site, so you have an input field with the text you want to translate and another one with the translated text. As many languages as possible.

2. A widget with an input text field that hooks into the Narrator thing in XP to have text read to visually impared people.

3. I know there is one already, but I'd like a simpler FTP drop widget, where I select a folder on my website I can drop temp files to like screenshots, skin WIPs and such. After the file's been dropped it would be nice to have a window pop up with the address to copy/paste.

I'm with PixelPirates #3. That's a great idea!

Also, I'd like to have a widget that shows me my online msn contacts and lets me open a new chat box to them by double clicking on it.

(actually, what I'd REALLY like is for MSN messenger to become skinnable by WindowBlinds instead of doin its own skinning!)

I know there is one object for Outlook and a couple calendar widgets, but I would like to see a few more that work a little better with Outlook. Granted, I have no idea how hard to do it is, so I don't know what I am asking. But I just don't find many of the calendar widgets that useful since I still need to look in Outlook (or my Pocket PC) for specific appointments, and the task list, while great looking, isn't useful because I am too lazy to make and use a tasklist in Outlook (or my PPC) and an additional widget.

If I could have a set of widgets that would interact with my PPC (via Outlook or some other way if there is one) and provide me instant desktop access to my appointments, contacts and task list they would be invaluable.

Great idea.

Still hoping for an address book (linked to Outlook if possible) with simple entry and display windows.

If I ever manage to learn enough coding, I might be able to make my own, but something tells me connecting to Outlook cleanly might be a huge undertaking for even the best of coders.

I can still hope though.

LPT1 capture widget. To capture printer output from those old programs that output directly to the printer port and store on my laptop for later retrieval and printing when I return to my office.

I'd like to see a very small, unintrusive, screen capture widget that can save maybe 5 at a time without having to paste them each time.

I'd love to see this...... the existing FTP widget doesn't work for me. It goes through all the motions, but the upload never appears in the destination folder.

It actually does that here too, another reason to have one that's functional

i have begun working on an address book but need help with allowing the user to actually add and then later retreive the entry. My newest them SophOS has an example of this. As of right now, one can call up entries but they are hard-coded, meaning the user would have to edit the script and add new entries manually which is a real hassle for anyone.

also, work on a yellow pages type widget has hit a stand still. i was able to set up the widget using html and css which can retreive the info but it comes bage as the result webpage. unable to ectract the information into a nice crisp output field.

there is currently a catalogue in development which stores cd album/dvd cover artwork and diplays information regarding the entry (ie, artist, track, release date, genre) it's broken into 3 main sections - Movies, CDs and Television shows. again as i only know enough vbscript to hack my way through objects, the code is ugly and could be updated by a professional...there was also a translator which utilized babelfish that was in production but didn't make the latest release of SophOS 4.2

Screen capture would be nice. I've seen an example of this in Dashboard so i know it's a viable object. Speaking of Apple's Dashboard...I've seen some great things that can be done using just HTML/CSS/Javascript and cannot see why this same sort of quality couldn't find its way over to DesktopX. some available in the the latest release of OSX include a flight tracker, a dictionary, a yellow pages just to name a few.

I'm leaving for Australia next week and will not know when i'll be able to have this system back up and running. to those programmers who wish to accept this mission: i give you full permission to tinker with the objects i already have. use them, break them down and make them work!I'm sure the address book i already have started would be the easiest to complete. perhaps with a form window the user can fill out that is saved to a persistentstorage.object which then is called by the search entry bar? the phone book is a matter or parsing the data off the webpage but could not figure out how to make the URL feed a variable.

these are just some ideas to get you started...

follow this Link to download the latest version of my theme that includes all the objects discussed here.

Thought of another one. I subscribe to Netflix. How about a widget that let's you bring up and edit your site queue, has a search function for the site and notifies you of new releases.

I use both Avedesk and DX. I would love to rely only on DX, so pretty much everything that Avedesk is doing right would be welcomed, like customizable monitored Folders shortcuts.

I know we have loads of calendars already, but what I'd love is a calendar that stores the data in the standard iCal format (.icl). Apple's iCal uses this format, so does Mozilla Sunbird, and a lot more calendars will in the future, since this format has been adopted as a standard. Ok, so Outlook may never support this format since Microsoft doesn't like standards, but most other calendars are starting to. Rainy is talking about supporting this format in future builds.

And a unit converter widget. From miles to kilometers, inches to centimeters, centegrade to fahrenheit, feet to meters etc. for anything that's worth converting. I'm thinking 2 input fields and a go button, depending on the input field, the result shows in the other.

A DX coded start button that activates your start panel and a DX menu with the same click. If someone can accomplish this, I got a big thing brewing over here.

Night train: could you not just create an object in DX as a start button, edit script that calls the menu then runs the start button. something like

Sub Object_OnStateChange(state)

If Object.State = "Mouse up" then
DesktopX.Object("yourmenu").visible = True
Object.ExecuteCommand
End If

End Sub

???

Just an idea...i'm in no way a VB Scripter. If anything I'm a hack

Night Train: take a look at my royale desktopX theme. It has a dx start button which overlays the windows start button. It uses a 2 millisecond timer to stay on top of all windows (including the taskbar)
