now ...while the background is not my cup of tea ...i have seen some that match or are more on the risque side and nones ever (in the time ive been here) posted about them...this one for example http://skins.wincustomize.com/arnel98/screenshots/Thunderstorm_Jdorama.jpg to me is as risque as the one this thread is about ...this one is actually IMO a lil more seedy like http://skins.wincustomize.com/joetheblow/screenshots/AeroGirls.JPG .. now these all are screens here on WC that ive never seen complaints about .... heres another.. http://skins.wincustomize.com/little_tiger/screenshots/winc.JPG .. look familiar ?.. yes its the same wall just in a different color ..... but why wasent it discussed then?..to my knowledge as long as the screen is not sexualy explicit and or contains nudety it was acceptable ..

Perhaps because those (as far as I know) werent featured in the daily shot.

It's important to note that Wincustomize.com requires email information from an individual wishing to be a member.  This prohibits those under 13 from legally joining without parental consent.

Frogboy's reference to 'PG13' is exactly that, and it's the responsibility of the site's Admins to set the 'bar' of suitability to closely reflect the general community's [here] view of what is deemed appropriate.

As with any graphic/skinning/art site there 'may' be nudity, etc but that is to be seen within context.....is it gratuitous or pivotal to the work?

Nudity is rarely an issue.....the 'issue' arises through its 'gratuity'....as is prevalent in screenshot rejections...

There is nothing wrong with any of those screenshots. I've seen worst on billboard adds, and the street isn't even PG13. I actually like the cartons on the second link in #51 much more to my linking. At least these are adult women, not a Playboy Playmate body on a disformed 10 year old face.

But regarding cartoon in general, because something is cartoon does not make it acceptable.  I've seen cartoons of women raped quite graphically. It's not about whether it's live model or a drawing that one must consider, it's what message is sent forth with the artwork. I got nothing against sexy, but I do have a lot against rape, murder and pedophilia. These subjects can and ARE often used in cartoons (especially anime cartoons), and I find them disgusting.

Dor! Been forever! How you doing?

I'll show my fonts if you show yours....That'll give the boys something to complain about
Reply #61 Top
We wouldn't 'complain' as such, China.....but if it's that old pic of the two wrinkly women demanding tees it'd be culled for good reason....

Dear oh dear..... lots of comments about this....although I really can't understand why.

/me wonders if anyone actually looked at his shiny new skin that he's working on......

Well, here's my two cents on this....it's not something I think is good, but then, I don't much care for the whole anime thing anyway. Mr. BoXXi, your pretty turquoise skin looks good so far! I would prefer a different wallpaper, tho!

/me wonders if there would be so many "looks good to me" if it was a picture of a scantily clad, really ripped male, posed "just so"!?!?!?

Whoa...that was really badly timed, I meant it to be a reply to post 20...

Personally as an adult I am not bothered by this pic on this site, Frogboy has said the site is PG13 or whatever. I would have issue though with my children seeing it used as a background, as a previous poster stated that he had with his children... It's not that the picture itself is incredibly bad, but anything like this being displayed on my computer where my children or anyone elses could see it gives it some sort of credibility and validity beyond just a cartoon.

This is where it gets weird for me. I've seen the walls before and my initial reaction was to feel a little icky although the actual anime (a style I like) and colours where nicely put together it was a little too near the knuckle for me (at first glance the image appears a little young made prematurely adult) to ever want to have on my pc.

So here one comes again as the screenshot. Same gut reaction (I also thought it was a shame for me as I love the peppermint colours Boxxi). However I re-assessed its level of acceptability on this board based exactly on the fact that younger folks have been brought up with anime and their relationship with the image could be something totally different from my initial perception, which is coloured in part by my age and the relationship with abuses that are part of the culture I live in.

So for me to have it on mine, an icky feeling - but for me to see it on a 16yr olds computer probably wouldn't worry me at all.

Somewhere in the back of my mind a voice is screaming 'come back Mickey, come back Minnie' - mind you I don't suppose you could make an animation entitled 'Steamboat Willie' anymore either

DWatson....wasn't really any appropriate time for that....it's all about levels of maturity....

It's an 'out of context' issue, where a comment can be humorous in one place and tacky in another....

Hmmm... In all the years I have used the "say hello to iMac" version of that wallpaper, it honestly never occurred to me that it might be a young face on a mature body. I can't even remember how many screenshots I posted with it, etc. Now that people mention it I could see it though, and that could explain an odd comment I got about that wall once.

OTOH I do not care for some of the ones in HG_Eliminator's post and might whine if they made the daily shot. There are tons of desktop shots like that at another site I'm on and it's a little unnerving. I guess we all have different tastes and thresholds.

Ahhh BoXXi blurred the girl out of the screenshot anyway, n/m.

Take that smile off your face Fuzzy - because of this thread I've abandoned my chocolate coated Nicole Kidman theme.

Helping or hindering, WG?

Nah...not doing either...just poking fun at how people see things that aren't there. It's scary when someone makes an issue out of nothing and the next thing you know we have congress writing more stupid laws the shouldn't be written. We always seem to blame inanimate objects for our behavior rather than take responsibility for our own actions.

While I would certainly agree that anything that depicts a sexual act/suggestion would certainly NOT be appropriate on this site...I feel this particular cartoon is completely harmless...that is until someone reads something into it that just isn't there. Leave it up...take it down...it really makes no difference to me...I just think the whole thing is silly. And like Boxxi said...does anyone like his theme? Did anyone even notice it?

I keep seeing people saying that that image is of a young girl's head on an older woman's body, but I can't recall the last time I saw a young girl with giant eyes and such a tiny mouth. It's just a stylised representation of a girl in her late teens to early 20s, and anyone who sees anything else in that image needs to ask themselves why. I too find it more disturbing that there are people who look at that picture and think 'pre-pubescent girl' than I do the picture itself.

It's true that anime (or more accuractely 'hentai') exists which represents young girls in sexual situations, but unless you've already seen such cartoons you shouldn't read anything more into innocent images such as this one. It's a style of art which is intended to make the human form look cute and fun, and is no more obscene than the fact that in western culture we draw our cartoon women with large breasts and hourglass figure.

The only issue I would potentially have with my children seeing this particular image is that it depicts a partially clothed adult female. Even then, I'd be far more worried about them finding real pornography on the internet than I would about them looking at a cartoon of a highly stylised half-naked woman sitting on the floor.

Incidentally, I think Boxxi's skin looks great.
