Jafo mentions the fix for that in the comments on that theme.
add this to your theme.rc

ConfigDir "$ThemeDir$config\"

That will fix your problem.

If Jafo mentioned the fix for this in the comments for this theme. Then why did'nt he just fix it.

maybe im confused.

Please be more specific about where I should paste what you mentioned.

Does it matter where I paste it in the step.rc ?

Thatnks for helping PharOe

csurfside....in the description of that theme I mentioned it was my first release of an OTS2 version...and there could likely be bugs....

....and there were.

This is caused by my setup getting away with them because it is not exactly identical with others'.

Rather than upload a fix immediately, I've been 'tweaking' the whole thing as odd behaviour still occurred with some of the animations....and I wanted to get it all looking 'better'.

Anyway.....I 'should' have the revised animal up today....

The line to add into the theme.rc can go anywhere in the meantime....

Thanks Jafo.

Your the man!

Your work is top notch. Ill be looking for the revise.

Just recompiling the lsz at the moment....re-dating rc files, etc to correspond with its currency...

There you go.....revised theme is up....'should' be bug-free....

Jafo

Now im off to waste an hour tweaking it to perfection! My grl friend is looking at me like im crazy.... I said no baby just a kid in a candy store, and Jafo just delivered the goods.

I have looked but dont see where to configure the short cuts, nor have I ever edited a lite step theme. However, I do know where the files are.

Please tell me where and how to cofigure the short cuts please!

I have one more problem.

The lite step theme you did called Fetchi. I really like this theme. However it makes my windows not maximize fully and some times the bars on the left and the right dissappear.

Any chance I missed something or you my be updating it sometime.

I really want this one working good.

The shortcuts point to your standard 'evars' as you will have configured them in your 'evar.rc'.

They are listed as '$FileManager$', '$GFXEditor$', etc....so whether you use Photoshop or PSP the theme will work because you preset these variables.

If need be, if you want to 'hard-code' the proggies in the theme.rc.....look for the evar entry eg $FileManager$ and replace it with the full path to the proggy of your choice...."C:\Program Files\VCOM\Pdexplo.exe" will get you Powerdesk 6 for example. [assuming you have it]...

Nijikon Fetchi has a top bar, and animated shortcuts [layercuts] on either side so the max desktop area is pre-limited to keep them visible....a standard LS feature.

If you want the whole screen edit theme.rc.....by placing a ''[semicolon....the dot-comma that won't show here]" [without quotes] before each line of the relevant section.

thus...

[semicolon....the dot-comma that won't show here] SetDesktopArea
[semicolon....the dot-comma that won't show here] SDATop 30
[semicolon....the dot-comma that won't show here] SDALeft 30
[semicolon....the dot-comma that won't show here] SDARight -30

or...

SetDesktopArea
SDATop 0
SDALeft 0
SDARight 0

or...

[semicolon....the dot-comma that won't show here] SetDesktopArea
SDATop 30
SDALeft 30
SDARight -30

Pays with LiteSTEP [and any other shell] to do a lot of 'RTFM' to fully understand the how, what, and why of its/their configuration/s....

One more thing, On the fetchi lite step theme. Should the bars on the left and right side disappear completly.

No...they have a closed state animation....if they disappear completely it'll be due to a module problem, ie....memory leak, etc.

The assumption is that you are reasonably up to date with the LS version.....you 'should' be using RC3....June 2004....

Jafo I reformatted my hard drive and will be reinstalling lite step.

Please checkback here later to see if I have it working or need more help.

I really love the lite step themes you made.Probally more then anyother skinning I've ever seen.

So please be patient when I post a question and help me figure this thing out. Like you always do.

You have always been more then helpful in the past, even when I was christina!

Remember that!

Anyway, I will be back later. My whole day is going to be spent trying to get this Fetchi lite step theme to work properly.

After that I will bug you some more for configuring short cuts.

Can you give me a link where I can download a lite step version that will work with the Fetchi theme.
Lite step used to be easy. I installed it, then downloaded a theme. Then clicked on the theme, and it installed.

Jafo, I cant find a version of lite step to download.
Im going nuts here!

Once you have an 'installed' LS shell....via the typical 'Installer' all you need to do id download the updated core files and copy them over [into] the existing Litestep directory.....though to do that, first you must exit Litestep as your shell....either by rebooting to Explorer...or by killing the litestep.exe pcocess in task manager...and copying them over and restarting the litestep.exe process....[I often do it the latter way]....just have your file manager open while  you do it so you can copy/move files [naturally]...

I'll post a link to the RC3 June 2004 for you....

Jafo

I downloaded a version of lite step and it works good so far.
I also got your Fetchi theme stable.
Question, to change the short cuts, can I just go thru the evars. Or is there a better way. I saw the edit evars when I loaded the theme but now I cant find its file.

Am I on the right track.

Sry to bug you so much, I know you have better things to do probally. I just really want this theme bad... Im serious. I hav'nt wanted a theme to work so bad in the 4 years ive been hunting!

Should I Uninstall my version of lite step and install the 3.0.2 version in your link?
Oh I get it The first link is for me to read and learn and the second is the link for the latest greatest build of lite step. Is this right!
Ok, Im going to try and calm down and read a little bit at that link and then eat breakfast. Then I will post a question if I cant find the answer. Im just so excited. I just expect you to spell it out for me. I understand it will take a little bit of work on my end. Ill be back!

You don't 'uninstall'....you just extract and copy the RC3 files into the Litestep directory and overwrite the older ones.....'RC3' stands for 'Release Candidate 3'....it's a beta....but then Litestep has always been a beta at one level or another....ever since I can remember.

Whenever 'playing' with shells....ALWAYS have an 'out'....a way that is tried and true to get you 'back' to Explorer as the shell....so you don't get lost in limbo....and swearing profusely at life at large....

I did think though...back in the b23 days that we'd at least go up by full points....b24...b25...etc...each time.....not be still at b26.7......six years later....

Ok,

That was easy, I see the evars is where to change my short cuts.
And I see that I can change the screen size three different ways from what I see you posted above.

It's working good now. Thanks a million Jafo.

I should be able to figure the rest out from here. And in the future I will try not to type so spastic. I just lost my cool on this one. I just had to have it right.
