But c'mon people, I don't think winmodify is needs to see the 2nd logo. If treetog das indeed come up with a logo for him he will probably love it, and it will probably be much better.

Winmodify, if you don't like treetogs logo (I dont think its possible, but IF) contact me. You already have me in your msn if I am right. I will do it for you then.

Anyway to finish this off, besides the ripping, the copyright, and alllllll physicalities of the matter. Even if winmodify was granted permission to use it, you still have 2 major problems.

1. [Creativity] The fact that the lizard is the logo/mascot of wincustomize makes it look like either they (winmodify) are trying to ride in their wake. And the fact that it's already been done, and in the same type of field makes it completely redundant. FORM FOLLOWS FUNCTION!! The last thing winmodify would need is unintentional confusion to users, winmodify is not wincustomize, and hence it needs to show that, and make sure people know it is different.

2. [Example] What type of message are you giving to users on a "graphic" site no less, if your logo isn't even original. All logo's need to have a connection to what they are representing, and having a chameleon for a logo makes no ties as to what the site is about. In which case I'd also like to point out the lizard is not the logo of wincustomize, it is a mascot. You do not need a picture in a logo, a logo can be anything. An image, text, shape, even a solid color. Winmodify NEEDS an original logo easily recognizable as their own, makes a connection with them, and like all good logo's to be simple.


You need to find out what winmodify is about and stands for, gather ideas, then once you know what the logo should communicate, then you can start to work on it. Don't try working backwards, just because they need a logo doesn't mean the best thing to do would be, lets find a groovy cool picture. Logo's are a different ballgame altogether.

Look at logo's that do work, and are highly succesful. Many you can identify just by the shape, or color. If you see two arches and think of "mcdonalds," or red and yellow and think "kodak" then that is an EXTREMELY succesful logo. Logo's also need to WORK the size of a billboard, a lighter, and a dime. And frankly, a highly detailed render isn't going to cut it at different sizes like that. Thats why simplicity is "key", the more simple the logo, the easier it is to remember, and recognize.

Well Your right. btw The chameleon wasn't my idea, WinMod demanded a lizard so i gave them a Lizard.("A Lizard logo Looks Stupid" as put forth by my little bro).

I also prefer text and shape logos. Like what would you think of if you see Blue curved rectangles like this: //\ ??

It's also common teaching that the "client" 99% of the time doesn't know what they need, and you should often try talking them into the right decision, if you know it.

Other than that, blue curved rectangles? If it's blue curved rectangles because there is a REASON for it, it could work. If you just think blue curved rectangles would look cool, keep brainstorming.

I meant that Blue Curved Rectangles remind of the MacroMedia logo!

Uzair...my suggestion would be for you to step away from this discussion of copyrights, etc, as past experience has shown a certain 'lacking' of understanding on your behalf...

We did not demanded a lizard!
You told us your idea and we liked it, we wanted to know what it would look like.
But we agree with horizon. The logo needs to be simple and recognizable and tell people something about our website.

We asked for a creature, but after all this and reading horizon's messages it makes sense that it would not be original,

We try our best not to be mistaken with WC, we have our own ideas. Maybe the forms where the files are in does look like it, but we find it clear so we did our best to give it our own touch. And i don't think we are going to grow as big as WC, but as long as people like our website and our visitor rate keeps growing we are satisfied !
