Fences 5: abnormal icon size

Hi, I get abnormal icon sizes with Fences 5.05

Windows 11 23H2 OS Build 22631.3155

The first screenshot is with "small" icons and the second with "medium" size. Both are abnormally big

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Interesting, need to know more on your system.

  1. What is the scale setting on your monitors. (100%,125%, 200%)
  2. When it happened have you try rebooting the system or at least restart Explorer.exe.

the scale is 200% (the recommended according to windows settings) and the display resolution is 2880x1920

 

Yes, I tried rebooting many times, restarting explorer.exe and also uninstalling and reinstalling fences5

If you temporary disable Fences (un-tick), all those icons should go back to your desktop. How does the icons look like? Same size as when they inside the Fence?

HI Basj, 

thanks for you help. After disabled Fences, icons show huge on the windows destkop.

Then if I restart the PC, icons are automatically normal size.

And when starting Fences again, icons are huge again.

Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

Dear Basj, 

 

I followed the procedure carefully, including executing the Purge_Fences.bat as administrator, completely uninstalling fences and rebooting. 

After rebooting, icons are OK

I reinstalled fences 5.05 fresh new from object desktop

At the same moment Fences is activated, icons transform into huge versions. 

The problem only occurrs with one of my monitors. In this link you can see the configuraiton of this monitor and an illustrative video.

I am using Fences for some years now with this same monitor and the problem has arised only recently

Ctrl + Mouse wheel up and down controls all Desktop icon size.  Example:

hi Sean, 

 

ctrl + mouse wheel makes icons bigger or smaller, but the smallest size I get has the appearance you see in the attached screenshot. Above the biggest and below the smallest size I get with ctrl-mouse wheel. Icon sizes are ok, but fonts are not.

As I said, this happens only on this monitor (I sent the configuration of this BenQ monitor previously in this same thread) 

When I uninstall fences and purge using the purge method, reboot, icons on this monitor are fine. 

When I install again fences 5.05 and start it, instantly icons on this monitor look weird. 

On other monitors, icons display always correctly.

There is an update in the oven for Fences that should deal with many multi-mon issues.  I cant say when it will be available but it is being tested.
