Fences 5 continues to offer an update

I am constantly getting pop ups saying there is an update to Fences 5.

I have installed the update multiple times, yet it keeps coming back.

If I go to Configure Fences, and check to see if there is an update, it tells me that my copy is up to date.

When I look at Object Desktop Manager, there is no update listed against Fences, and nothing at all listed against Fences 5.

 

This has happened before with other Object Desktop programs.

It happened with Windowsblinds a few months ago.

I believe that got fixed with an update to the Object Desktop Manager.

 

But now I get it happening all over again, but this time its with Fences 5?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. I can not tell from your screenshot, you already on Fences 5.04, yes? If yes, look like its not properly installed. This is what appear on my system. On mine there is "Open" button, which appear if its properly installed.

Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to re-download the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

I followed those instructions. Purged Fences.

Rebooted my PC, followed the link in the email about product keys that got sent to me.

Downloaded Fences and installed it. But it wasn't Fences 5 when I ran the configuration.

I think it was a free version of the old Fences. Install file was called Fences_public_sd.exe.

 

Anyway, I had to search for a download for Fences 5.

This was Fences5-sd-setup.exe.

This installed OK, and when I put the product key in on rebooting my PC, I now have Fences 5 back.

But my Object Desktop Manager is still the same as it was before.

IE I get a Fences Button with a configure button next to it.

Then a Fences 5 Button with nothing next to it.

You should run purge again, reboot again. and this time please download and install the installer from your product account page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products. Reboot again. See if Fences 5 is running. Once that is confirmed. Uninstall Object Desktop manager, reboot and reinstall Object Desktop manager and see if the button issue resolve for you.

The link you provided only gives me a download of Object Desktop or Object Desktop manager.

It does not give me a link to install Fences 5?

I have uninstalled Object Desktop, rebooted, and re-installed it.

Now its correctly showing the OPEN button next to Fences and Fences 5. I will come back and report if I see any more download update notifications for Fences 5.
