As an active user of WinCustomize.com who has downloaded over 50 megabytes of content from our site, we ask that you help support WinCustomize through the purchase of either a WinCustomize Subscription or registering a Stardock product.

This explains that as a *user* you have hit the 50 mb limit allowed to *users* (might be best to change that to trial member or some such).... It also explains that you are being asked to support the site (including the operational costs, and such that all registered members subscriptions are used for no one is getting rich in fact the costs of operating the site are not met with subscription moneys, though it is off set by it).

WinCustomize subscribers not only get unlimited download capabilities, but also receive the new WinCustomize SkinBrowser, enhanced skins, free text ads on the site, and premium skin suites.

This goes on to explain exactly what comes with a Subscription which is well worth more than it is being sold for, it was also explained that if you purchase a Stardock product such as Windowblinds and so on, that you will have memer access restricted to the text in the FAQ and such.

So, can you still download?

Do you really have to ask?

one really cheap solution is to purchase CursorXP. it is well worth every penny, and i believe that alone is enough to get you around this limit.

personally, i would recommend getting Object Desktop. incredible value, and that is definitely enough to get you past this limit.

or if your using a trial Windowblinds, purchase that so you can continue to use it after the 30 days is up. If you have purchased it, you can cross reference your registration info to Wincustomize for an user level 2 or 3 account with unlimited access.

With a user id of 2436 you have been around for quite a few years. How is it you haven't purchased anything in all that time?

Curious...

/me isn't going to comment on that name

Fuzzy brought up a good point, with a user id of that number you should be on the Gold card by now. Platinum would be those that have a much lower number then that. So you know what I'm referring to.

Just had to add my 2cents

good questions which also brings to mind.

How in the heck have you been around so long and not known how the site works?

unless it's been a good time since you've been on the site and missed the changes?

My suggestion, as stated previously by feline, is to purchase an Object Desktop subscription. It truly is an incredible value for the price and allows you to make your "Windows" anything you want it to be. I purchased my first subscription to Object Destop in September of 1999 for $49.95. This is the same price that is being charged today, almost five years later. What other software you purchased in 1999, AND underwent massive improvements over the years, costs the same as the day you bought it?

i bought windowsblinds, then thought, what the hell, and bought the whole thing...

does anyone know if I can get the $19.95 back for windowsblinds, as I bought the whole suite? it never even occured to me to as till now...

Possibly you could get back the difference in an upgrade price.I think stardock allows you to upgrade from a single purchase to the OD suite. Email an admin(stardock) ,they should be able to help you.

paulhaskew,

I did the same thing. When I upgraded to Object Desktop it was discounted to $35.00.

Worth every penny

Vanilla....then you will be considered a parasite, stealing from those who willingly and financially support this site.

Not a good career move....unless you want to be the cowboy on the black horse...you know, the one that doesn't get the girl, but lies in the dust as the credits roll....

Eitehr way, I have raised your access so that the limit won't affect you due to your contributions to the WinCustomize library.
seriously? wow, thanks. i haven't even contributed in a long time...

sig101: yeah that's my site. one of em anyways. how'd ya know?

It's on your ID page.

Websites like this have costs and need to recoup at least a portion of them as with this site (SD sales subsidize a significant portion of WC costs but not all). Which is why as the site use grew dramatically WC/SD lowered the download limit and instituted some restrictions and ways to contribute either through submitting work that is posted or financially supporting the site through subscriptions. Obviously it's taken you a long time to reach the lowered limit so it cannot be said that you've been wholesale downloading without contributing as some others have. Anyway since you have contributed work, Froggy raised your limit so there ya go.

so people who havnt bought any program from stardock get 50mb download limit?
Unless they have contributed in some positive way within the skinning community....not necessarily financially...

Solid, you're not affected because you have apparentice access already due to your contributions to the community.
