• Removed option to keep fences on top "even after switching windows" during hotkey "show fences" usage, as featured caused compatibility issues with other programs.
• Resolved issue where "Lock Fences" menu item did not appear when fence titles were hidden.

A quick question.

At top left with the 3 lines. I can set the view and sort by.

How do i permanently:

set the view to : Details
And the sort to : Date modified in reverse order.

So all fences start with : Details and Date modified in reverse order.
And all folders opened inside a fence also always opens with : Details and Date modified in reverse order.

I work in a kitchen where many files are added daily from many different people.
And would be great to have the fences always using the same style.

Some people i work with are not tech people and they simple cannot understand if things are not always the same and follows the same design all through..

Where can I find a previous version?  This one has made it to where I constantly crash in Elden Ring.  Nothing changed other than the update this morning.

I can't find how to customize font colors for icon labels in Folder Portals. Please help.   

I installed Fences 4 after uninstalling Fences 3 everything seemed fine. I created 3 fences and docked them to the top of my screen and double clicked to roll up. I returned at a later date and added more to a fence and wanted to resize it. The fences no longer allow me to move or resize them and the right click context menu option is nonexistent. I can open the app from the start menu but all the resize fences options are greyed out. I then found out I cannot delete or create any additional fences. This doesn't seem right.

Seemingly it remains true - on Fences 4.0.7.2 - that a fairly large number of icons slows the computer considerably.

I have some thirty-five icons and four fences. My PC is reasonably fast (Win 10 Pro 21H2, 2009: 19044); quad-core i7; 16GB RAM; the icons are stored on a SATA III SSD). With earlier versions of Fences, I observed a slow-down once one reaches approximately that number of icons (where the icons - to be clear - are all within Fences). The slow-down consists in this: a delay of approximately a second when performing various trivial operations within File Explorer. I have in mind such operations (or 'operations') as right-clicking or making a new directory or renaming a file. That slow-down is still there with the new version. You should really try to do something about this. Waiting a second or so for various operation soon adds up to a grating experience.

There was no option in the context menu for anything at all related to fences and yes I had show more options clicked and was under view tree. I used RegEdit to change the right click context menu back to legacy and uninstalled/installed fences 4 again. I now have the option in context menu again.

Now:

Probably a Windows update I don't know.

What is the shortcut keys for Lock Fences?

Ever since upgrading to v4.0.72 I am asked daily to install the latest update even though the program says that I have 4.0.72 and that I am up to date. Anyone else experiencing this?

What is asking you, the app or Object Desktop Manager?

In either case, go to your Downloads directory... If there is a 'Stardock' folder, delete it, reboot, and see if it still prompts you.

It is the app that asks. I have deleted the Stardock folder as you suggested but I cannot reboot until late this evening as the PC is busy running automated tasks. I will let you know tomorrow if the problem has been solved.

FWIW, it never did this with previous versions.

Something is preventing the app from writing the version to the registry.

Try a purge and reinstall - you won't lose your snapshots so be sure to take one prior to doing it.

之前一直在用Fences4，一切正常，但收到4.7.2后点了升级，每次进入Windows桌面后要等1分钟以上才能加载出桌面图标

后来卸载了重新安装，出现了新的问题，程序无法启动，且手动点击Fences快捷方式启动报错，

点击确定后，会进入设置界面，下面的启动桌面分区复选框  取消勾选，然后再勾选 依然没用，卸载重装多次都不能正常使用。

还有一直有压字的现象，例如上图的“自定义您的桌面分区”的“区”看不见了，被压在第二行底下，里面有很多这样的压字情况。

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

中午花了两个多小时，多次尝试以管理员身份执行Purge_Fences.bat，待卸载完成点击否（稍后重启），等待命令行提示完成重启，然后重新安装，再重启机器，进入桌面依然报错，

还有一个现象，自从重装后，桌面的右键菜单里面再也没有看到过Fences配置的菜单项，

未重装前可用时顶部有一个【配置Fences】的菜单。

After using your purge tool, it seems to have wrecked everything because my lifetime license now shows as having expired in March of this year and Object Desktop says I need to purchase Fences if I wish to download it.

Edit: ditto the other Stardock apps I had installed.

For info, I responded to an offer you made in March of last year for the full Stardock Object Desktop suite with a lifetime license. Should I mail support or are you able to reactivate my license, Sean?

在虚拟机里面测试失败，安装成功，不报错，也正常注册右键菜单，但无法正常启动分区，重启系统也是如此。

Windows 10 专业版 1909（OS 内部版本 18363.418）

右键【启用桌面分区】或 通过桌面的图标【自定义Fences.lnk】打开设置，点击【启用桌面分区】都无法启动桌面分区。

有没有测试程序，或可以记录错误信息的程序，辅助解决类似于我这种问题？

The translated word 'partition' is confusing here.  Do you mean to say here that under the new administrator Windows account, Fences works as expected but under your main Windows account (perhaps what you mean by 'partition' here) it still does not?

I am going to assume that is what you mean there for the next part.

Under your main account, there is a switch to have it log crash reports.  Enable it and let us know if it displays a window for you to add crash details (if that is indeed what is happening).

不好意思，“Fences”安装完后在中文操作系统下显示为“桌面分区”，我说的分区就是Fences安装完后在桌面右键菜单里面添加的那个菜单。

之前开启过崩溃日志，但不知道日志记录在什么地方，之前在#20位置发过一个fences_debug_info.txt文件内容，不知道是不是崩溃日志。

目前机器上已经卸载掉Fences了，实在是安装不上，如果您有远程协助的方法，是否可以远程协助一下我这边，如果不能，期待下一版本更新时附带安装过程，以及安装完成后启动过程记录，这样我下载安装遇到问题可以提交给您这个文件，以便可以从中确定问题所在位置，并通过这个问题来告知我如何解决它。
