I've been putting off trying it til I'm done skinning.Mastering Maya takes a pretty serious commitment and there wouldnt be any time left for skinning.(I still have a skin or two left in me)
I already have a character(based on my chessmasters wallpaper) and story, just not sure I have the smarts to pull it off.(thats why you see so many names in the credits at the end of an animated movie)

I got Maya 4.5 PLE on a CD that came with a Computer Arts magazine issue. Haven't tried it yet. Computer Arts is an excellent magazine, and every issue comes with a CD..some demos, some full apps, plugins for PS, tutorials, etc. It's just hard to find around here (published in UK).

maya is a fun program ive had a chance to play around with it, i like the texturing options on maya better than 3d studio but im way more comfortable with 3d studio.
