New WC poll on new library next month

I just noticed that WC is planning to add a new library next month. Some of the poll's choices for user input aren't surprising: Rainlendar, Trillian and even boot screens.

But there is also the option IE/Explorer Toolbar Icon Sets. Does anyone at WC/SD know if this is a reference to a specific app? Like Y'z Toolbar? Or something else? (I think I recall SD previously mentioned revamping WebBlinds but at present WebBlinds only changes the IE toolbar icons. So this also caused me to wonder if there are any plans for a new WebBlinds type app on SD's "to do" list or just it's just not on at all for the near future.)

One of the features of the next version of WindowBlinds (4.2) is going to be the addition toolbar icon support for Explorer and IE (replacing WebBlinds function).

This should include alpha-blending and custom color support as well.

Nakor: YEAH!!! Whoohoo!

sig: I had a hard time choosing between option 2, 3, 4 or 5. Man, they're all good!
I finally settled for Trillian.

Whooeee! Nakor, that's great! I thought I'd read a (seemingly) long time ago that SD was thinking of incorporating the toolbar icons function in WindowBlinds, but with so many things in development I didn't want to hope/presume that this poll may have been a foreshadowing of it in the near future. 4.2, eh? Outstanding!

Yeah, paxx, it's tough to choose just one for the poll. (Surprised that bootscreens was an option, though, given FrogBoy's previous comments on the results of a similar poll not long ago.)

Anyway, it's all cool.

Which section would be best for WinCustomize? Are boot screens really something that woudl be good for the site?

BTW, the votes include the IP address of the voter (one of the choices seems to have a number of duplicate IP addresses voting for it).

So please let the vote fall where it does. Don't stuff the ballot.

Frank Leon: heck no - I really cant see the usefullness in being able to change your bootscreen, its not like you keep rebooting just because you've added a snazzy new bootscreen....

Anyways, I voted for 'Rainlendar skins' even though I would have loved to see a section for Hoverdesk themes!

I wish there were more poll options available. I only get 6 and one has to be "other" of ocurse.

I would have added things like Aston, Hoverdesk, 3DNA, GeoShell, and a few others.

My suggestion is if what you want isn't there, pick "something else".

Frank, that's a legitimate question.  I'm going to write a blog about that actually. I'll post it shortly.

So someone's trying to stuff the ballot? What next, hanging chads? Sheesh.

Very silly since SD asks for input but this isn't a democracy, so trying to "fix" the vote won't necessarily determine what SD/WC actually decide to do.

It's quite safe to say that if one particular choice is being 'spammed' to cook the results that we can correct the 'fake' votes and get a genuine result...then, when [if] the [apparently] second most popular choice is accepted you'll know which apparently was being 'inflated'.

Of course, if the IP is noted along with the voting.....then some silly person will be looking sheepish ....

It's legitimate polls such as these that show a willingness on the part of Wincustomize.com to respond to requests and ideas as posted by the general populace.  It's a bit 'silly' to abuse this...

I voted Rainlander.

Forgot....I voted Trillian...[haven't even used it in months, but it's a worthwhile proggy]....

I voted for toolbar icons but my second choice would be Rainlendar. Though I still have significant concerns over whether this will help WinCustomize.

I voted Rainlender.

I also would like to vote for the people stuffing the vote to have their voting privileges removed...

Damn

Seriously though, Jafo - thank you for giving us the opportunity and i hope everyone plays it fair otherwise they are going to look very stupid and a just punishment for anyone abusing the system is right and proper.

NOW COME ON YOU PEOPLE VOTE RAINLENDAR.........or i'll send the boys round!!!

Leo....I didn't post the poll...but on behalf of the person who did, it's our pleasure.....the idea is that Wincustomize.com goes from strength to strength through its community and their/our involvement/input...

The voting reminds me of when George Bush was elected

I voted for 'Rainlendar' also.

Although toolbar icon sets sound pretty nice too.

Bootscreens...blah

I put up the poll.

If Rainlendar is popular enough, as I've said, I have no objection putting it up.

The question is whether having a Rainlendar section will help WinCustomize.

Ideally, what would be a better poll would be "what would be your second choice." So that say someone who wanted Trillian skins could also say "But if not that, I'd go for section X".

Often times many different people have ideas of what their favorite section is but there may be a broad consensus on a second best section.

The term is referred to as "a run off".

Actually Brad, It would help alot. Give it time you will see.

On a side note I would like to add that in the last poll the choice "I do not plan to use DX2" seemed to be winning. over 700 votes and it was winning. Maybe DX2 is on it's last leg. Hope so. WindowsBlinds is a better proggy.

Kona, i have to disagree, i feel DX2 is here to stay and it is slowly evolving.
The way i see it is that it is new to a lot of people and fairly radical in places and people take time to adapt or take on changes. In its current form we will have to see if it really takes off but only time will tell. It maybe that DX2 evolves into something quite different from what you see now.
